wrong exhaust

Post by Merzbow »

Well, I was gonna get springs but then my friend from around here aske me if I wanted to buy his Borla cat-back off him for $125. He only used it for a month before he got his dual exhaust. So I saved and bought it frmo him. I got it in and everything and noticed the bolts didn't fit, so I went around and got new bolts...the bracket didn't line up right withthe gasket on the otehr end...so I thought that's weird what's the deal here? Then it hit me like a f*ckin truck...he's got a GT and I have Base... then I just kinda sat there in amazment as to how blind we were for neithe rof us to notice such an important fact lol. Even though it didn't fit right i still took it for a spin...it sounded so amazing everyone was checkin out my car as I drove by...but a few minutes ago I had to take it off. I was so excited to have the exhaust finaly at such a GREAT deal...but now I have to return it to him. Maybe he can custom fit it to my pipes witha custom gasket or something.

What was different that you can't fix by repositioning the brackets? That way the price wasn't wasted and you still have a killer sound.

You could easily have a new flange welded on in place of the one that doesn't fit. It should be pretty cheap. You could even use the one off your stock exhaust if you don't plan on reusing it.

Yeah, he's a good guy, he will refund it probably. But yeah my dad suggested just buying a double flange or something or just buying a wider bracket so it would fit inside the GT catback...The difference is that the GT pipe is, what a half inch wider? so the flange doesn't fit snuggly inside the other pipe like it should, theres too much room for it to slide around. I'll talk to teh guy that sold me it since he works at a body shop he should be able to come up with a solution.

Well, my dad and I fixed the pipes to fit togather without any cutting or welding. It works beautifully and sounds even better.
