Bike rack and rear window

Post by thermometer »

I want to tote my bike with me and I don't want a roof mounted rack. Also, I'm looking for alternatives to a tow bar type installation. The next choice is the type that hangs onto the back of the car, but I don't want it leaning on the glass. Anyone see any type of rear mounted rack that would hang onto the roof rails instead and then somehow attach below the rear hatch? That would be the perfect solution. Thanks in advance for any info or suggestions.Ralph

I have a two-bike leaning rack that I got from wal-mart. No ill effects. The foam pads sit just above the facsia that says "Pontiac", and below the liscence plate. The straps go on the bottom of the hatch, and up top, near the hinges. I used it to bring my bike back and forth to work for a few weeks, and again to drive from Jersey to Atlanta. I think it cost me $40 or so?
