Convertible Camry?

Post by ragingfish »

Now I consider myself somewhat well versed on the modern-day car market...but I swear on my life, I've NEVER heard of a CONVERTIBLE camry????Strangely enough, however, a convertible Camry LE was parked outside of work the other day -- aftermarket perhaps?(Click image for full-size.)

Yeah, it'd have to be an aftermarket kit. There were people who were getting their new-style VW Beetles chopped into convertibles until they starting making the factory convertible ones, I'd imagine it's something along the same lines. I assume the owner of the car was taking car of the car? New tires, clean, no gouges or scrapes along the body? (If it was aftermarket, I would assume they would take care of something they spent that much on)

Yes... now there's nothing, but when I move my mouse over the empty space it says there is a link. I click on the link and it takes me to a new page and I get gateway timeout.

Yes on on of my websites the images showed up perfectly for me, but not for anyone else. Seems the browser was using the cached image from when I had built the page and then reviewed it (I think I was still trying to access it from the hard drive rather than the server!).

The image is being blocked by the powers that be at Toyota. It is a prototype and all spy photos are being censored. They're after you, man.

Sounds like an aftermarket job to me... Pic is still broken, but here's the "real" Camry convertible - the Solara.

Yes, I can't get the pic or the website either. I think it's aftermarket also because to my knowledge a convertible Camry from the factory was never made (not counting the Solara). I've seen cars that were never made as convertibles that were made into convertibles before. It's expensive to do this and do it right. I have also been told that it should never be done unless a lot of body modifications are made because chopping off the roof ruins the structural integrity of the car in several ways.

ya, i'm pretty sure it's a ragtop. most convertibles you can see the frame areas where the fabric stretches over. this looks like someone decided to do a custom job on it. not sure if they make the caddy's w/ ragtops anymore, but my uncle has one. i don't care it myself. don't understand what the fuss is about.
