I never thought I would be so emotional about losing a car! Oh well, I think it will be worth it in the long run. My ex just came to pick it up and drop off my old beat up Lumina. I took it out for a drive and quickly realized a coulpe things. She hasn't changed the oil in a very long time, there is a loud clunk when I step on the gas, and the windshield wipers are rotted out. The inspection is due in November, so I have till then to either figure out what is wrong with it and shovel even more money into it, or just get a new one. If anyone cares to, I set up a poll to get an idea as to what cars you all think I should get. Here it is: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=11808If you didn't vote yet, please feel free to help a guy out deciding what to do. 17,000 dollars is a lot of money to spend! I want to make sure I get the right car.

Get a new car, start out on a new slate with fresh memories and get yourself a hot chick/new loving woman once the divorce is final. Turn around and never look back. good advice. with the exception of being careful of the hot chick. you don't want to replace the soon to be ex w/ another b*tch. i went thru about 6 or 7 losers during and after mine. waste of time, energy, and emotion. but now, 4 yrs later, i'm doing very well. but, start your life clean and new from here on out! make sure you come visit us still. we like having you around, even if you don't have the vibe anymore!

You all here have to be the greatest people I have never met in my life! I have recently been browsing other car forums to gather info on mileage estimates and stuff, and it is brutal out there! There is no respect for other people's thoughts, opinions, and ideas on those other sites. I am happy that I found a safe place to learn about cars, the vibe in particular. --Now, I am even happier that I have found some new friends.

Good luck to you Matt, I really feel for you. Good news about the Lumina though. They usually last pretty long with reasonable care. My friend had one that was his dad's company car and he bought it when the company replaced it with a new one (think it was a '91). It wasn't anything special but he beat the crap out of it, didn't take care of it, and it still ran great. You can change the oil, filter, and wipers fairly cheap. The clunk when you step on the gas is probably a motor or transmission mount. Again, lucky because they are relatively inexpensive to replace. Hope all goes well for you with your future from this point. Chin up and keep grinding forward!
