Is my Vibe idling too high?????

Post by shenandoah24 »

Ihave tried to get into the dealer and just have not found the time...so I thought I would ask all of you on here since you seem to be more knowledgeable (and more easily accessed) than my dealer. When the car is in Park it idles at like 2000 rpms and if I am in drive and just sitting still--it idles at about 1500 rpms. It has an auto tranny. It seems like that is high because it makes me feel like I am revving the engine and I am not even touching the gas. Any input would be greatly appreciated.Thank you!!!!!

I don't have an auto, but my 5-speed will idle at around 2k when cold. After it warms up a little, it'll drop back down to normal. After a few miles, does yours idle normally? Just getting some cold weather in TN? It's been VERY cold the last few weeks here in MI.

Thanks guys!!!! That saves me a trip to the dealer!!!!! I ususally waste almost an entire day when I go. They are really good about checking out whatever I want them too....the wait is just too long and they are normally out of loaners. However, they did let me take a brand new vibe for a loaner a few weeks ago because I told my salesman that I would like to drive a GT sometime, so he got me the keys...what a trip that was. But it's not practical for me, I sit in grid-lock traffic everyday, manual tranny is not fun in grid-lock!!!!

Yes--it does come down to about 750 or so. I think it is fine after reading all of the recommended threads. I appreciate all the help!!!!!
