Re: High idle when cold, running rough, near stall when stopping (Annunaki)

Same here with my 05 Vibe, before the PCM is replaced (the recall, in case you didn't pay attention). The code was P0172. If you google it, you'll see that the most common misdiagnosis is to suspect the O2 sensor. One must verify that the MAF (mass air flow) sensor is clean. The MAF on my Vibe wasn'...

Re: Recall on PCM (atcdude)

For my 05 Vibe, I got the new PCM. It seems to have helped quite a bit and I am very happy! Before it was done, I had CheckEngine light with P0172 code (lean condition). I have cleaned the MAF sensor and verified it several times in a few months. I almost give in to the idea of replacing O2 sensor.Af...

Quote, originally posted by harryb »Since I've cleaned the MAF sensor three times now,When you cleaned it, was the MAF sensor dirty? If it was, why? You have to prevent it from becoming dirty. In my case, the problem was caused by the air cleaner casing which wasn't closed properly (by the previous...

I agree that one should reset the code when one sees fit. You can buy a cheap code reader for $30 or so.

Re: Another P0171 question (harryb)

P0171 shouldn't be caused by O2 sensor according to this web page at RepairPal.com --> http://repairpal.com/OBD-II-Code-P0171-and-P0174Here is my P0171 story, of course it may or may not be the same as yours --> http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=42978

Re: (Cougar Vibe)

My 05 Vibe has about 97k miles when this happened.Keep in mind that the previous owner caused this problem by not closing the air filter compartment completely. The MAF was exposed to unfiltered air (become dirty, very dirty indeed) for a while before I bought the car. The root cause of this problem...

my story - how I resolved check engine light on my 05 Vibe

Just want to share my first experience with check engine light (05 Vibe). The moral of the story is that you should buy a code reader and it's quite easy to do it yourself. When I saw the check engine light, I came to this forum and read some articles. I decided that I will drive to a local AutoZone ...

Re: Spark plug problems (Amtron)

You need to loosen the wire rail which blocks the boot/coil. If you don't loosen the rail, you will crack your book (lose part of the cover) when you use a lot of force to pull it. But, the nuts that fasten the rail are hard to reach. So, it's very easy to overlook them at the beginning.I speak of m...
