Re: De-Badge (Pix Doc)

OK, the de-badging was a success. Here's my two cents:1) Use the hair dryer - it's easier to get them off this way.2) I used a plastic scraper normally used for ceramic cooktop cleaning.3) Use "Oops Latex Paint Remover" - it works better than Goof-Off and 3M Adhesive and Wax remover.4) Tak...

Re: AEM CAI - Torque Loss (lordyogi)

So, with AEM at a peak of 167 hp and INJEN at a peak of 167 hp(assuming the TRD exaust's is a 2hp gain for the Vibe), and both peak at 122.4 ft-lbs, they seem to be equal up in the power band. But, it seems AEM causes a 5 ft-lbs decrease in torque in the daily-driving RPM range, and INJEN does not.No...

Re: Car key (silverawd26)

My two cents - I had one made at a local ACE hardware. At first, they couldn't match the blank because I said it was a Pontiac. After a second thought, I asked them to check the TOYOTA blanks - yep.So, it's a Toyota blank - FYI.

Snow and Dunlop 9000's...

..Don't mix.We had a whopping 1/2" of snow yesterday, and I had to pick up my kid from daycare, and I had no choice but to use the Vibe and it's "not made for snow" Dunlop 9000's.They are not good in snow - just thought I'd let you all know.I'll be investing in snow tires next October...

AEM CAI - Torque Loss

Have you noticed on the AEM CAI dyno, there is up to a 5 ft-lbs loss in torque below 3500 rpm? A small decrease in horsepower also.(see attached file - AEM-CAI-XRS.pdf)The INJEN CAI dyno results show little to no loss in torque or hp.( http://www.injen.com/webpages/testing/original_files/rd2075.jpg ...

Re: Variable Valve Lift (MadBill)

One of these days, I'm going to talk to the "2zz trained" mechanic at the dealer (assuming there is one), and find out what this is all about. What I'm really after here is how the lift mechanism is engaged, by what, and if it can be engaged lower, say a bit before 5700 rpm (that's where I ...

Re: Variable Valve Lift (HIGHREV)

Ok, now that I've got you all travelling down this road, why don't we figure out how the oil pressure causes the transition from low- to high- lift at a specific RPM (currently ~6,000)...Is it all internal, or does the ECM (correct me if my acronym is wrong) have anything to do with it?If it's all i...

Re: Variable Valve Lift (Chris)

Wow! Very informative!Ok, with all that said, when the high-lift kicks in at ~6k, there is quite a large surge of power.Basically, is this large power surge just waiting to kick in, and the engineers decided that 6k was a good place to cut it loose, or is 6k the earliest point at which all that flow...

Re: Variable Valve Lift (lordyogi)

Ok, so the higher valve lift occurs when the oil pressure reaches a certain point...Why not sooner in the RPM range? (No just saying "because that's the way it is").Why not have it kick in at 4k instead of 6k. There must be a technical reason..Any insight?

When you install a Cold Air Intake, do you have to disconnect any sensors on the intake?Could someone explain what sensors are used in the intake portion of the engine? Thanks,Bryan
