I am not sure what is involved in the recall, but sounds like they didn't apply "anti-squeal compound" to the back of the pads.Dave

Sure, bottom line is, if the manufacturer recommends premium – run premium. If they recommend regular – run regular.

It might not get up to normal operating temperature in that short trip. I would double check the tire air pressure with a different gauge. Should improve after it's broken-in and you might want to switch to 100% synthetic oil (I wait 5 to 6k miles before switching) for a slight gain and better engin...

I think that engine uses solid lifters - which means the valve lash needs to be checked (and adjusted if necessary). First oil and filter change (1,200 miles). I like the vertical filter - took just under 4 qts to refill.

I would prefer a true gauge. But I think ColonelPanic is right that the manufacturers don't want people to see a +/- 75* swing in temp.Dave

If you buy a Vibe (or a Matrix, Camry, XB, TC, w/ a 2.4) just know that you need to check (and adjust if necessary) the valves every 60k miles or 48 months. D'OH!

leemur, I would think that the sensor at the engine transmits the actual temp and that the "gauge" on the dash is wired to absorb a wide fluctuation and still stay still in the "normal" spot.

The potential problem is body panels and other parts specific to the '09/10 vibe (which was only made for a year +). I think they are supposed to have parts available for 10 years but not so sure the reality of that especially now that GM is Government Motors.Having said that, I bought a 2009 Vibe [...

Traded in my 1986 AMC Jeep Cherokee under the CARS program for a 2009 Vibe 2.4, auto, fwd -wanted silver (got dark blue) did not want a sunroof (got a sunroof) but they were moving so fast off the dealer's lots that I had to take what I could get.
