Every time I tried jacking the engine up, I could not even get the mount off the frame rail. The engine could slide around a little, but there was no movement up. I do not understand how others have had success getting the clearance. Does the AWD have anything to do with my stubborn engine? I can no...

jacking up engine

I am in the middle of trying to change the belt tensioner today and even with all three motor mount bolts out of the frame rail, I still can not move the engine. Every time I try to jack the engine up, the engine barely moves before the car it self starts to move also. Is the car suppose to move wit...

Updated belt tensioner

I am going to replace the belt and belt tensioner in my wife's Vibe soon. I read about the "improved" tensioner in Toyota's TSB, but are the aftermarket tensioners like Gates, Dayco, ect., as good? I would like to go with Gates, but just wanted to see if there was any serious reason to sta...

Since I do not really drive the car I do not know exactly when it comes on, but my g/f says she will eventually notice the light on after driving a couple of minutes.

Gear selector light

Is it normal for the light that illuminates the gear selector label to not come on right away with the headlights? For some reason it takes some time before the gear selector gets illuminated at night with the lights on. Not a big deal to me, but my g/f is not too comfortable with not seeing which g...

I have read of the bearings on one of the toyota forums and I think Wiki has something on a bad oil pump. I was thinking of the 0w-40 Mobil One because I have heard Mobil One runs a little on the thin side anyway, plus I may be wrong but, in my opinion the 0w-40 should still allow decent cold weathe...

Cold knock

Hello, My g/f just got a 2005 Vibe AWD. Since I will be performing all the maintenance I figured I would sign up to the Vibe forum. My first question is the reliability of the 1ZZ engine? I have read good things about this engine, but I have also read of multiple main bearing and oil pump failures a...
