Re: Removing rivets from stock speaker mounts (DeClerq)

Yup, just drill them out. For the front you will need to use the plastic mounts or the window won't shut (No issue in the back though). Just shred the factory speakers and use a pair of snips to cut the plastic parts in the back holding the speaker in.

Re: Has anybody else had to drive their Vibe in gravel? (DarkSpork)

My lake house is on a gravel road and I haven't seen any issues yet ... other than all the lovely dust that collects on it sitting out front. I've learned it's not worth even washing it when I'm up here.

THE CAUSE

So, the cause was a vacuum leak .... in the hydro-booster (power brake booster) of all things. After spraying the entire engine to try and find the leak, they finally heard it near the brake booster. So, in this whole process my car got: - A new ScanGauge unit (and solid proof they are a great compa...

I also emailed them a bunch of tips/posts that people on this and other forums put up (a couple from GM service techs with ideas). I hate to tell th...

The upper tailgate is totally different. The spoiler is a direct part of the top now. One could take it and chop it up to work, but that's $250 plus chopping and painting time then.

The Aveo gets a bad rap since it's made by Daewoo, but they're a decent car for the money. Great gas mileage, lots of storage room, and they look pretty good. I wouldn't buy a new one because they don't hold their value at all, but to get a used one for $5K, that's perfect.

Well, I called Linear-Logic (company who makes SG) as soon as they were open. I spoke with Ron DeLong (the inventor of the ScanGauge) for quite a while. Yeah I'm going to call Linear-Logic (company who makes it) when they open ... they are in AZ ... MSD time. You can reflash our PCM's, they just can't do it at this GM dealer since it's a Toyota engine and has a Toyota PCM. They sell flash tools for it online for like $1,200 I think. Dealer says ScanGauge ruined my PCM and I can't use ScanGauge anymore

I've had my car into my local dealer 5 times now for a check engine light code (PO171: air-fuel ration, feedback is stable after warm up, but rich on start up), which is a lean running condition. They checked the mass air flow sensor, engine coolant temp sensor, changed the front O2 sensor, checked t...

I used the same website to pull (base) model costs before adding extra options. Re: Secrets to better gas mileage - see how much money you save by raising your MPG (joatmon)

True, after 5 years you own the vehicles and if you don't plan to sell them ever them the residual value is pointless. But you would not net a $2,300 savings with a Prius. The break even point on a Vibe vs. a Prius would be seven years at aprox. 15,000 miles per year. The gas savings you had on the ...

Re: Secrets to better gas mileage - see how much money you save by raising your MPG (Whelan)

Whelan, yeah it is nice that it's back under $4... but only barely here. When hypermiling I'm getting about 450 miles out of a tank before I refuel (leaving less than a gallon in tank). It's crazy to get this type of mileage when I was driving a Durango or my 300C SRT8. They had bigger tanks of cour...

Secrets to better gas mileage - see how much money you save by raising your MPG

When I was shopping for a more fuel efficient car, I made an Excel program to factor in all the costs, do MPG comparisons, decide whether a new hybrid made sense for me, etc. I figured this would be helpful to others to use as well. You can figure out whether or not spending money on a modification ...

I looked long and hard at moving towards a Prius. I have always hated the look of them and I just could not get over it. Will the rear spoiler on 2009 GT fit a 2007 Vibe width wise?

I have been looking for an option to do a rear spolier that is like that, but know they made some changes in height on the '09's. I think the exterior width is the same at the hatch top right? I also have the luggage rack so I'm not sure if that would get in the way ... hmmmAnyone know for sure?

Ahhh that's it then. You do almost all city driving where I am probably 80%+ highway miles because of work (outside sales/mgmt). The auto vs stick is probably not that big of a mpg change since you're hypermiling.
