Have not used anyone other than Discount Tire for the past several years. They always seem to come out ahead on price, or they're willing to price match. I love Tirerack's site but their shipping costs always seem to put them over the top.I just ordered wheels+snows off their website, and the local ...

Re: Need Winter Tires & Rims For 2009 1.8L Vibe (parentd328)

I have a 2007 5MT Vibe. I read test reviews on Tirerack that showed the Winterforce (with or without studs) was the worst performer, but YMMV. I wonder if they do those tests blinded (not literally, i.e. the test driver just doesn't know which tires are on the car).Anyway, I went with the General Al...

Re: Momo Winter Pro S with Continental Extreme Contact DWS (Triton)

I got a set of DWS 2 years ago in December when my wife spun out on the stock RS-As that had 35K miles on them. They worked really well, but now that the DWS have 25K I'm not so sure how they will perform this winter in Minnesota. Probably going to get a set of winters which is why I'm on the board ...

Re: No cranking for 2-3 seconds - related to recall? (joatmon)

Yes, by now I've realized I have to mash the clutch all the way into the floor for it to have a chance to start. Even when I do this right away it takes 2-3 seconds. What is the clutch to start switch, and is it an easy fix?

No cranking for 2-3 seconds - related to recall?

2007 Vibe, 5MT. I am having a problem the last few months where turning the ignition does nothing for 2-3 seconds, no cranking or anything, and then the engine will turn over right away. It's not like cold starting where it is cranking for 2-3 seconds; there is nothing going on while the key is turn...

Re: road hazard protection a good investment??? (bikeman1)

The Certificate for Replacement program at Discount Tire is a pretty good deal if you have to utilize it. I have, twice. I bargained them down on the price of the certificates so I paid about $8/tire.Once when a tire got a side puncture that couldn't be repaired and all the tires still had lost of m...

Re: Fuel pump running when car is off (ou.grizzly)

Is it really normal for the car to be doing this 4 hours after it is turned off if that is the case?

Fuel pump running when car is off

I just noticed when going back to get something out of the car tonight that there was a whirring noise coming from under the rear driver's side of my 2007 Vibe, which had been off for about 4 hours. It was coming from the area just behind the left rear wheel which houses some wiring and what appears...

Re: How To: Disable the Seatbelt Beep - '05 and up only! (sholt25)

Will have to try this on my '07 5sp. I never drive without a seatbelt and haven't ever needed a reminder, but I did notice how annoying it can be on our last road trop. Occasionally my wife would unbuckle to reach something in the back while my son was back there sleeping, only to be woken up by the...

Re: (northvibe)

Thanks, I actually took off those 2 side compartment doors before driving to work this AM and there was no change in the noise. Gah-I didn't realize there was another compartment directly behind the seat--was wondering what that other little dial was for. I'll have to try that, although I still thin...

Rear rattle

Hello all,I've been enjoying my new 2007 Vibe for the past few months. First new car I've ever purchased. I've noticed quite a rattle from the rear of the car, sounding perhaps like metal on plastic, and not just a small part rattling around. I've tried making sure the hatch and glass are closing pr...

Re: How Much do you pay for car insurance? (Black n Blue)

I assume the poll was just asking what we pay for the Vibe. I pay about $40/month for my neww 2007 Vibe. This is after shopping around and talking my current insurance carrier down. I'm ~30, married, live just outside the city border and have no tickets but I've actually had a couple not at fault ac...
