Re: (Guitarheroal)

Well, I decided to replace my struts also - the front dust boots are shot and noticed poor handling over rough roads (108,000 mi).I purchased KYB GR2's and ran into the same issue with the bellows. Basically, the part I need is #7 in the illustration below. This basically acts as a dust boot and cus...

Re: Jumpy High Idle When Cold (jkm311)

Yes, that is my fan on high when cold. It still does it to this day. I imagine by now if I took it apart, the brushes and rotor would have a large groove and almost be worn to nothing - similar to the picture I have seen somewhere on here.

Re: Jumpy High Idle When Cold (stoutvibe)

Wow...3 years since my last post - that is pitiful. Anyway, I have a few updates. Way back when I created this thread, my vibe was 4 years old and had this idle fluctuation issue. Well, I continued to live through this nuance every Minnesota winter. Finally, this winter I had another issue pop up th...

Re: What is the max YOU'VE towed? (kunkstyle)

2004 Base manual - I have a class I hidden hitch which is rated at 2000lbs of towing weight. I have towed +/- 1000 lbs of retaining wall blocks (not including the 300 lb rough weight of the trailer itself), multiple times. Being out on the road isn't bad - you definitely notice the weight in braking...

Re: (BoostFrenzy)

Having replaced my O2 sensor 3 times, I can offer a few tips. You do need to remove the upper heat shield - 2 bolts I believe. Definitely do it from above. It really isn't too bad to get in and out. You will need to use a wrench instead of an O2 socket though, because of the tight clearance to the f...

Re: Bad Oxygen Sensor? (NibCrom)

That's about when mine went out for the first time. My code was P0133. Keep in mind there are two O2 sensors - one before the Cat and one after. The P0133 code is for the one before the Cat. It won't really damage anything - I just loose about 5 mpg's. Have you noticed any decrease in your mileage? ...

Re: p0133 CEL + Bad Gas Mileage (joatmon)

Well, apparently it's that time of the year again...oxygen sensor replacement time! The vibe just threw a P0133 error code again this week. Also noticed the same drop in gas mileage over the past few weeks as with the last failure, so I was almost anticipating it to error out. This means my Bosch re...

I have what sounds like the same problem as you. Check out my original post: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=25029I actually took a video of it to document what it does every cold winter morning (which there are a lot of in MN).http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ev8ZUbN5f8sI think most people will a...

p0133 CEL + Bad Gas Mileage

Hi Gang - My vibe just had its first CEL at 59,000 miles. I have an 04 base manual. I had the CEL read at autozone and it came up as p0133 which is defined as "oxygen sensor circuit slow response (bank 1, sensor 1). This is the sensor located before the cat. I had been suspecting a bad O2 senso...

Re: (whitevibe04)

I have the same problem you have described - had it for probably the past 30,000 miles. I have an 04 base with manual and 55,000 miles. I notice it if I am backing up, hit the brakes, then start going forward - when I hit the brakes to slow down I get that same popping/shifting noise you describe. I...

The Book of Daniel on NBC - only a few episodes aired and then it got pulled because of questionable content. It was a great show though.

Re: Does your engine sound exactly like this when cold(read post first)? (montreal)

Mine usually starts doing it after about 30 seconds, but then again that seems to vary with the temperature also (closer to 30 = about 60 seconds). Also, my vibe usually does it more rythmic, like in your audio clip - it isn't usually as random as in the video.

I will try removing the fuse and resetting the ECU and see what that does. Here is a video to my normal idle hunting problem (not the severe case I mentioned):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ev8ZUbN5f8sThanks for your advice.

Re: Does your engine sound exactly like this when cold(read post first)? (montreal)

Montreal - just wanted to let you know that I have this same problem in my 04 Vibe base w/manual. It has occured ever since I purchased the car new in 2004, but of course didn't surface until cold weather. This morning it was -2 outside and the idle hunting was especially bad - much much worse than ...

Mine is just a base manual. I will see if I can take a decent picture of the underside of mine just for reference. Even on my base vibe it is somewhat difficult to access the bolts, but I am thinking probably much easier than on an AWD.

Re: (jasonvibe)

The one you are refering to is not the correct one and that is probably my bad for not describing it well enough. There is one heat shield on the top that you are seeing which covers the top of the manifold. The shield is basically in two halves around the manifold assembly. There is a similar shiel...

Re: Why does mine moan @.... (jasonvibe)

I'm not sure if I had the same problem as you, but my vibe had that same noise right around 1800-1900 rpm, except I would have described it as more of a metalic vibration. As it turns out, one of the bolts attaching a heat shield between the engine and firewall was missing and causing the vibration....

Jumpy High Idle When Cold

Hey everyone - I have been a long time viewer of the site and finally decided to join. As you all know there is tons of great info here - it's a great site!I have a 2004 base model manual. The idle when cold is around 2200 rpms (normal). Last winter, as well as this year on cold mornings, the idle w...
