I think I've solved the mystery of the wiper motor failure. I replaced it with a new one and found the shaft on the old one to be the victim of road salt. The shaft was rusted and froze so tight I could hardly turn it with Vise Grips. Now to come up with a method to prevent the new one from ending u...
I also can't understand if that line to the wiper motor is fused why didn't it, the fuse, blow??? The wiper would hardly move at all before it quit all together. The motor got so hot that it started to melt the plastic conduit that encloses the rear window defogger wire. This could have been a disas...
I talked to a co-worker tonight and he said it sounded like a cam problem to him. If I have 3 or 4 people in the car and I'm accelerating up a hill the noise is louder. It appears any increase in load on the engine makes it worse.
And why shouldn't I bash GM? I called my dealer to get a price on another wiper motor. A GM motor was over $350.00, a Toyota motor was $159. I ended up getting it online from a dealer for around $125 with shipping. What's going on here? No-one can tell me there's that much difference if any at all b...
First of all it's out of warranty. I've had the cladding replaced, the LED light in the radio burned out, I'm getting a vibrating sound at 2700 to 2800 RPMS (it sounds like a piece of tin vibrating) and now the rear wiper motor burns up. I replaced the radio with a used one from Ebay, I'm just waiti...
My rear window wiper motor has appeared to have burned up. It got so hot that it melted the plastic conduit that encases the wire for the rear window defogger. The motor was so hot you couldn't touch it. Has anyone else experienced this. I have an 03 with 32000 miles on it. This car is really turnin...
I've noticed a noise lately when my 03 Vibe shifts from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th gears. It sounds like a piece of light metal vibrating when it shifts and it only lasts a second or two. It hasn't affected performance at all. Anyone else noticed this?
Got a new radio on Ebay for $45. Installed it and it works great. I'm a bit puzzled though. I thought security codes prevented a radio from being installed in another vehicle? Could these codes have been cleared by the salvage people I bought the radio from?
My Vibe is Salsa and the main reason I bought it was because of the Toyoda engine and transmission. It has power windows, doorlocks, mirrors, automatic trans. etc. I thought they were the ugliest car on the road when they first came out and then they started growing on me. My mother bought an AWD in...
I have an 03 and it has the AM/FM CD player combonation. This all happened 2 weeks after the warranty ran out. I had the face plate off and there are no light bulbs. Something that's soldered on the circuit board must illuminate it.
The left section of my radio light has gone dim or burned out all together. It's not bad at night but in the daytime you can't see the display or the clock very well. Anyone know a fix? Thanks in advance.
