Signs of a bad computer, same computer for 1zz and 2zz?

2005 vibe 1zzfe, I have a P0016 cam sensor disagree code and the new alternator appears to not have fixed the overcharging problem (seemed to for awhile). At night the lights started going dim and bright then battery, airbag, and check-engine lights came on, thinking of tossing a $50 used computer a...

Does the computer control the charging system?

I know some cars the computer controls the alternator, wondering if the '05 Vibe is like that. Was overcharging, replaced alternator, seemed OK, still had the camshaft sensor P0016 disagree code, replaced the sensor, 2 drives later the lights were going bright/dim while driving, battery, airbag, and...

Re: 1zz-fe cylinder head oil return passages

just behind the sprockets would fill fill oil if there weren't a drain, so I'm pretty sure there is one.

Light looks to be coming through a possible opening in this pic:

Re: 1zz-fe cylinder head oil return passages

I would say, look at the 3 brown passages on this block, just those and the cam chain passage. https://i.imgur.com/PtzxsbZ.jpg then match up with a cylinder head pic, I think I see 3 next to the head bolts at top of pic https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1Fwtbf.FWMKJjSZFvq6yenFXaT/1ZZ-FE-1-8L-DOHC-Cylind...

2005 1zzFE P0016 cam/crank sensor correlation error

OK, 2005, 200,000 miles, runs and starts fine, idle is a little low. I can't find a thread here where someone had had the problem then posted up the resolution. Can anyone point to a happy ending to this tale? I see possible causes as everything from dirty oil, computer that should have been recalle...

Re: Alternator overcharging, over 15V

It looks like they are serviceable. Here's a parts diagram for my '07: http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/us/2007/corolla-matrix-nap/zze130l-depdka/3_155450_023_/tool-engine-fuel/1903_alternator#27387 This would be the replacement regulator for mine: https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-DENSO-TOYOTA-VOLTAGE-...

How many miles on this Vibe? Earlier alternator failures have not been a problem on these cars.
Over 200,000 miles.

Re: Door stops and rust musings

That's what's funny, before flipping it was a lot more than just part of the tab sticking into the window path. It was a new part so probably they gave me one for the wrong car.

Re: Alternator overcharging, over 15V

As a thought,
I was wondering if maybe the 2ZZ had a higher redline, and maybe the alternator for that had a larger pulley to keep it's RPM below some limit.

Re: Door stops and rust musings

Thanks.

Maybe it was both, the curve went the wrong way and then I did have to grind back the stop too!

Door stops and rust musings

Vibe was driven for a while (not me) with no drivers door stop, both the door lower hinge bolt point (severely) and the body where the upper hinge mounts (not too bad) cracked. Turns out those door stops are important. Took fender and door off to MIG weld the cracks (turned out pretty good), the rus...

Alternator overcharging, over 15V

Hello all! 2005 Vibe (not GT not AWD), got a bunch of sensor codes including cam sensor, checked voltages first. Basically no charging at idle, over 15V at battery with any revs, so fixing that is first I would assume. But figured I'd check this wasn't just a vibe oddity. Now the whole 1XX-FE vs 2ZZ...
