THIS JUST IN....dealership called and said its either the bearing within the tranny (covered and yippee) or it's the release bearing on the clutch (about 500 bones CAD with labour)...anyone want to make any wagers as to which it might be?

tranny or clutch..

took the vibe into the dealer today and initially they said it might be the "bearing clutch" 9.1 hours of labour and $74.00 part...but wasn't sure if it was something that would be covered under the powertrain warranty without talking to the tech...does anyone here know?

Re: Transmissin or clutch? (joatmon)

Joatmon, that is exactly what is happening to our vibe. Some say its a slight grinding sound, I say it sounds more like a lot of air passing through the engine when I exelerate, others say its a gurgling whirling noise....what was the trouble with your tranny when you took it in?

Transmissin or clutch?

I was getting a slight gurgling sound whenever I was in gear and applied the gas on my 2003 Stndrd Vibe. I took it to the dealer and they said it sounded like a tranny problem, and that because I had 88,000 KM on it, the warranty was up. I went back and told the dealer to make sure the service tech ...

Re: New Guy with Vibe Problem (ScottS)

We ordered our Vibe in May 2002 and finally got our 2003 vibe on August 13 2002...it has 83,000 kms on it (we have driven out to Halifax 3 times..thus the mileage). The drive was through the white mountains of vermont and appalachians, therefore there was a lot of shifting and up hills...the air con...
