Re: Really, really poor gas mileage: 15 U.S. mpg (buldir)

Wow. Thanks for all of your great comments. As a scientist, I was also thinking that I should wait and see if this continues after consecutive fill-ups. If I can only put in 9-10 gallons when empty, over multiple fill-ups, it's likely a fuel gauge issue. When I did fill up the car with the "bog...

Really, really poor gas mileage: 15 U.S. mpg

I live in Anchorage, Alaska and the traffic is typical stop and go, rarely travel faster than 45 mph, the roads are rough, I have studded tires, it's relatively cold (10-30 F) lots of braking, etc. -- a real nightmare for a car. I have a 2005 AWD and usually get between 21-26 mpg (U.S.) in town, whi...

Re: (03frostygt)

I didn't have a choice but to replace them. When the GM mechanic tested the rotors after turning them with a hard stop, they warped again. The car had 15,000+ on it.

Re: brake drums came off with the wheel (Katscan)

By pull, do you mean to one side or the other? If so, then no. I am leaning towards the corrosion theory as to why they stick. We don't use salt on the roads up here in Fairbanks (too cold and dry), but we do have to drive through a lot of snow. The temperature range here in Fairbanks can be anywher...

brake drums came off with the wheel

The first time I had to change a rear tire after a flat, the brake drum seemed to have gotten stuck inside the wheel and just popped off. A few weeks ago I had the tires rotated, so out of curiosity I removed the left rear tire and, once again, the brake drum popped off inside the wheel. Is this nor...

Re: Warped Rotors-- I think (csharrigan)

I just had to replace my rotors in my '05 after 15,000 miles. Same deal, pulsation in the break pedal when braking down from 50-60 mph or so. The warping occurred after I took it into a local shop to rotate the tires. This may imply that what JohnC said is correct (i.e. unequal lug nut torque). I co...

Re: (Luna)

Luna,The goods went on without a hitch. Pun intended. Man that's funny. Anyway, it looked as though the Hidden Hitch was not going to fit, but once you get under the car and move it into place it obviously fits. I am impressed. I used a 12" ratchet wrench with a 19mm socket, despite the install...

That's what I was looking for...nice work. Can you post a picture of the new bracket matching the threads of the Roadgear yellow handle? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. millster, that looks interesting...and I'll keep it in mind. Yes, I will definitely post back with the details of the install and use. Here's what I keep coming across with various Google searches: The tracks in the cargo bay floor are the basis for a series of dealer install...

Using the floor railings to store a bike

Hello all. I got a new '05 Vibe AWD last week and wanted to say thanks to all those who have posted...I did my homework before making the purchase and this site helped out a lot. I recently bought a Hidden Hitch from etrailer.com and a Draw-Tite TripleX Folding 3 Bike Carrier for hauling bikes. The ...
