Re: Refinishing OEM aluminum rims

Any one use hamerite? It comes in a few colors I think I am going to do my steel wheels (winter tires)first in the darker silver hamerite I am pretty sure it will be better than the oem black crap paint that washes off where the wheel covers don't...cover. Then a 14 dollar set of lug nuts and I migh...

Re: Radiator Fan Not Working

Any resolution? Also On a side note I had my radiator fan go out at about 80k (wife insist using a/c 24/7-365. I bought the Dorman replacement assembly Off amazon seemed to be a solid unit. Only funky thing was it took a little coaxing to get it to line up but it was no big deal. It had a lifetime g...

Pioneer DEH-X6700BT CD receiver

Got one of these from crutchfield 119.99 Shipped with 99% of all the required goodies. Dash kit, antenna adapter, harness adapter. All I needed was about a dozen (removed) connectors. The wires almost matched wire for wire the only ones that did not had good descriptions for the function so it was e...

Re: Programming New Remotes:

Yea that routine seems familiar when I used to be a gm tech at a Pontiac dealer. Adding/reprogramming remotes on vibes sucked I always seemed to have to do it three times each time I would do it because I would mess up a step. Once we asked a lady if she had any other remotes and did she want the on...

Re: Radiator Fan Not Working

If the a/c isn't working the computer won't request the relay to be triggered possibly. I would suspect that if you trouble shoot the ac You may solve the fan problem at the same time. If the computer gets a ac request and all parameters to engage are met it should trigger the fan relay. If the refr...

Re: Transmission gasket 2005 vibe

So I dropped the pan last weekend. There was typical fine particle black junk no big chunks the magnets looked to be at capacity if that makes sense i doubt they could have held much more. I am glad I just got a gasket the filter was definitely just a strainer so at this Many miles I think it would ...

Re: Transmission gasket 2005 vibe

I don't really expect to find much in the way of debris or gunk. I have drained and filled the Trans every 20k miles, the fluid is bright though not like new it is not dark. I seem to remember a technical service bulletin about pontiac vibes and "dark" trans fliud color. Something about th...

Re: Transmission gasket 2005 vibe

I was a gm certified tech for 8 years I have done literally dozens of Trans pans just never on a vibe which is a little odd cause I own one. I suppose that is why I am picky about my choice of gasket. I allways use a torque wrench. I usually put the gasket Inplace started the bolts by hand then used...

Re: Transmission gasket 2005 vibe

No leaks at nearly 90k I thought the gasket from factory was composite I have had excellent luck with composite gaskets and moulded rubber with steel core reusable gaskets like you see on gm cars. But darn near every cork gasket and floppy rubber gasket I ever used had some degree of seepage in a mu...

Transmission gasket 2005 vibe

Want to drop the pan and clean the magnets on my vibe. I looked at the kit at autozone and oreillys. The gasket was rubber and I am not a fan of rubber OR cork I like composite. It's a 18 bolt pan vin is a 8 code for 8th digit if I am not mistaken. I don't really care about replacing the filter it's...
