here is someone on the sight selling the crossbars for the stock OEM mounts: http://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=44586 if you are still looking for that. I believe the stock would give better support than after market ones as they mount better and more secure. Thanks M1. I act...
I actually have two sets of cross bars now. They don't have much paint on the top part, worn down to the bare aluminum, and I have a Matrix bumper protector which is a bit different. I have new pics to post of everything. What is your zip so I can quote shipping? It is about 9 pounds. Can you quote...
I've got the stock roof rack tracks that run along the sides of the roof. But I need cross bars, and eventually will want to get bike racks, and something to haul more cargo (a cargo rack/tray, or a box/bag). I'm open to advice if anyone has experience with different set ups. My preference is for st...
Got my airbag safety recall work done about a month ago for the passenger side airbag. No notice regarding the driver side yet though. Repair was done free, but had to leave my vibe at the dealer overnight. Everything seems the same since, which i guess is a good sign. No problems as some others rep...
Well, I could be missing something here, but as far as I'm aware the only way to get fluid back into the Vibe auto trans is through the dipstick tube. Correct. From my limited experience. If a car has a transmission dipstick tube, that's the only way to fill. No tube means there is another cap or b...
Just a friendly reminder: open the refill plug first, BEFORE draining out the transmission fluid. I've had a few cars where the refill plug was nearly impossible to unscrew for some reason. I was panicking the first time, since I had already drained the fluid. If worse comes to worst, you could refi...
Just changed the cabin air filter and engine air filter. Easy jobs, less than 5 minutes. Didn't find a write up on changing the cabin air filter (probably since it's super easy), so here's my lazy write up. Instructions came with the replacement filter. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa247/tad2m...
i have no experience to contribute here, sorry. But just wanted to say the project sounds interesting. Why install a transmission cooler? I assume it's good for the transmission, but does the vibe have transmission issues as it is?
When you do it, take lots of pictures for a how-to write up!
Welcome! Looks like your car projects are coming along well.
Since you've already used a bunch of matrix parts, you might be interested in Matrix lowering springs too. You can follow whitealltrac's experience with them in his thread here. They should be put on soon it seems.
thanks for the reply. So would you recommend cleaning it in place, holding the throttle plate open by hand, or removing the whole TB, and letting the ECU relearn on it's own? I didn't realize coolant and brake stuff was connected to the intake/tb. That sounds weird, but i've never messed with at TB ...
I'm planning on cleaning the electronic (also called Drive-By-Wire) throttle body on my 2005 base vibe. (I may also clean the mass airflow sensor (MAF) while I'm at it, following to this simple video .) I found this how-to at toyotanation , and it looks easy enough. Just remove the airbox and intake...
thanks to this thread here , i no longer have the annoying alarms when the passenger removes their seat belt! reposted here for convenience and proper credit to tahoan: 1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. T...
Old thread, but wanted to thank everyone, and especially NovaResource for the pdf. Made everything really easy. I just programmed the key fob i got off ebay. Took about 1 minute, and the panic button on the back works too!
Just got an extra key fob off ebay for about $13. It was a GQ43VT14T as the back of the original fob says, but had the toyota symbol and an extra panic button on back. Just programed it using novaResource's handy pdf from this thread , also posted here for other's benefit: http://i198.photobucket.co...
thanks for the welcome and good advice everyone! @skimask - I didn't know the ECM recall was also called a PCM recall. I searched and couldn't find how to check my PCM number against the recall list. I found this thread on genvibe here where micbarric had previously posted a list of the affected PCM...
Thanks for the welcome trb! And good tip on the GM owner site! I just registered and no recalls were found for my VIN. Hope that means everything is good to go. I like the red, but I was actually trying to find a blue, it's niiice. But none were in good condition, and I prefer how mine is monotone, ...
hey genvibe! I just bought my 05 vibe last week with 102k on it. Base model, automatic, pw/pl, came with an eclipse avn4430 navigation head unit, which is nice. Car seems to be in great condition, really enjoying it, and getting all kinds of ideas for work to do on it from here. If anyone has commen...
