Re: Carrying a Foldable Boat (silverawd26)

Thanks, I am going to take a look at that site. I'm also attaching a picture of the folded boat (but the boat in the picture is probably just 8 feet--the one I'm planning to get is almost 13 feet, but its shape is basically the same).

Re: Carrying a Foldable Boat (silverawd26)

Even though it's a boat, when folded it looks like an ironing board. That's why I don't think a boat carrying kit would be very usuful.

Carrying a Foldable Boat

I’m planning to purchase a foldable boat called “Porta Bote” (www.porta-bote.com). Of course, I am going to carry it on the roof of my Vibe. When it’s folded, it looks like a long ironing board and has the following dimensions: Length—12 ft 6 in (3.85 m.), folded thickness—4 in. (11.4 cm...

Vertical Smudge on the Windshield

I’ve had my Vibe for less than 4 months and since it’s been relatively dry, I haven’t had too many chances to use my wipers. But when I did, I noticed that there is a vertical smudge on my front windshield corresponding to the farthest position where the right front wiper reaches. In other wor...

Re: gas mileage (Frosty)

Well, I think the tank must be bigger than 50 liters. After all, I'm buying gas at well-known companies and despite all the business scandals and frauds we so often hear about these days, I can't belive gas companies would so openly cheat us. I wonder if other users have had similar experiences? By ...

Re: gas mileage (Salsa! (aka Waiting4Vibe))

I've already posted this in the general discussion group, but I think this forum is a more appropriate place for this post.I got my Vibe (base, automatic) on July 20/02 and after returning from my vacation, I've driven over 4,000 km. since the purchase. Perhaps you're interested in my fuel economy b...

Vibe's Fuel Economy

I got my Vibe (base, automatic) on July 20/02 and after returning from my vacation, I've driven over 3,500 km. since the purchase. Perhaps you're interested in my fuel economy between my fill-ups (converted to mpg):25.68 (mainly city driving)30.67 (mainly city driving)33.84 (mainly highway driving)3...

Re: Are you concerned about the fact that you have a first gen ... (Dan)

Since I accumulated over $3.600 in my GM Visa--and due to the new rules that I had to use the rebate or lose it--I kind of had to buy a GM car. Before I considered the Malibu, but was extremely discouraged by all the negative comments I heard, especially regarding its reliability. When I found out a...

Re: Fuel tank capacity--Vibe FWD (NovaResource)

Thanks for your reply. Well, I've bought gas at that particular gas station (Sunoco) a couple of times before and never seemed to have any problems. I'm really puzzled! It was my first fill-up--but not the lat, so I'm sure I will have many opportunities to test the capacity of my fuel tank. In any c...

Fuel tank capacity--Vibe FWD

According to the GM brochure, the fuel tank capacity is 50 liters (11.0 imp. gal.). Today I bought fuel for the first time--I wanted to wait till the warning light goes on. However, I was surprised when I managed to buy 50.102 l., more than the stated tank capacity--and I'm sure that there were stil...

Re: How much do you pay for insurance on your GT? (Frosty)

I still don't have the exact figure, but I'm going to roughly pay $1,300 (Canadian) per year--which is a lot, I think, as I have an excellent driving record (100% clean) and I paid a very good rate on my old car. I think the problem is that the Vibe is such a new car--in fact, I spent a considerable...

Scott, thanks for your input. Yes, the lights do shut off automatically when it's no longer dark... which means that I won't have to use the manual switch at all!

Car key

I've just been to a local store where I wanted to make a duplicate key to my car. I was advised by the salesperson that probably the key has a special chip built-in and I have to get my dealer to make me a special key. In fact, he did make one duplicate key, but indeed, it did not work at all, I was...

[QUOTE]Jack, I posted the same query a couple of months ago when I got my Vibe. We are probably only 2 of a handful of people who didn't get the power package so there wasn't much help out there. I complained to GM who pointed out that the brochure stipulates that the info in it is subject to change...

Re: Power remote liftglass is not there... (NovaResource)

No, it does not. But I have the brochure about the Vibe and in the "Standard & Optional Equipement", in the "Interior" columnt, it says: Liftglass--power remote release--S S S; in other words, it's standard on Vibe, AWD and GT.

Power remote liftglass is not there...

When I ordered my base Vibe, according to the brochure, there was a standard power remote opener of the lift glass. When I picked up the car, I realized that there is no power or even manual remote opener of the liftglass or rear door: each time I want to open them, I have to use the key... quite in...

Re: Don't the lights see the sun? (Lagonis)

I've noticed the same problem... sometimes I must really 'speed' to drive out of my obviously dark garage to avoid the lights turning on automatically. In general, I think it's a great feature--but it seems once the lights are automatically turned on, they stay on, whether or not it's dark. I'd real...

Re: Has anyone seen the new Vibe ads? (Chazb)

It's funny, but since I got interested in the Vibe (about March, 2002), I have not seen ONE ad on TV or in newspapers! On the other hand, since the wait time is about 12 weeks, why should they advetise anyway?

Re: Canadian Vibe - What did you pay ? (Turkster)

I got a $300 discount, but by the time the Vibe was ready (13 weeks later), the increased--and I did not have to pay it! Also, I got a six speakers radio, 200W, at no cost. So, the difference between the new MSRP and the price I paid was about $1,500. Plus, I got $3,650 off thanks to my GM VISA earn...

Re: Longer waits in Canada? (Dan)

I ordered my Vibe in the Toronto area on April 10, 2002. I was told the wait time would be 8 weeks. My dealer got it on July 12, 2002 and I picked it up one week later. So, I waited for over 13 weeks.

Overdrive-how does it work?

Hi! I picked up my Vibe (base, automatic) just two days ago and I have a question regarding the overdrive. It seems that once I start the car, the overdrive is automatically on and stays on unless I turn it off. When I drive on city streets, at 50-70 km/h, the drive is very smooth when the OD is on....
