Re: Bodywork cost.

In the long run everything worked out ok. The parents of the kid that did the damage ended up paying for my Vibe's repairs at a good shop. Thanks for the help.

Bodywork cost.

Well tonight I had a coworker decide to jump on the front of my 2008 Vibe. He dented the fender and scratched the hood pretty bad. So I'm looking at needing my hood repainted and either the dent repaired or a replacement OEM fender installed and painted. I'm a decent shade tree mechanic but I don't ...

Re: 2008 Vibe base w/ 55K miles for 7K?

In August of 2013 I bought an 08 base with 89K a manual and no options from the local Ford dealers used lot for I think about 6.8K. So I'd call that a good deal.

Re: Considering trading Vibe - Value?

It has the grey bottom trim. No mods yet other than adding a power outlet in the console. The only thing to set it apart is my gf's garter from last year's prom on the rearview. Its the only manual vibe I've seen in person, I won't own an automatic. Bare bones base. Mostly commuting to JALC, or at H...

Whoa I'm in Herrin, you are the only person I've seen on here from the area.

Even though its not a Vibe, you should start a thread for this car and keep us updated on what you do with it, like Camogirl did with her Sonic.

Re: Any advice for driving stick?

Honestly, the easiest way to learn to drive stick is to never get used to an automatic, imo. I told my dad I wanted to learn to drive stick and the first thing I drove after getting my permit on my 15th birthday. Both vehicles I've owned have been manuals. I have taught my gf to drive them too. (wel...

Re: Adding +12V socket to 2005 Center Console

I just preformed this mod and it was simple plug and play. Looks like it came from the factory with the second charger. I don't see why anyone wouldn't preform this mod.

I just ordered the parts to do this from the nearest Toyoda dealer.

Re: CAMOGIRL's Sonic

Its just how I sit, I feel weird with my seat all the way back and my legs sticking straight out even though I fit better that way. I'm too used to the high seats in vans and trucks I guess lol. I haven't driven any of todays subcompacts so I was just wondering how they compared to a Vibe. But I've ...

That surprises me, I figured that the Sonic be less spacious inside than a Vibe.

Re: GenVibe meet 2014: The Planning

If you know where SIU-C is, its 10 minutes away. I own a '08 Vibe base 5-speed. I drive an '08 Corolla for work (the drug store owns it). When it was time to replace my '94 Sonoma, I just looking for a 4-cyl 5-spd car for fuel economy and ended up buying a Vibe.

Re: CAMOGIRL's Sonic

That car looks nice, but I have to wonder how well a Sonic would fit my 5'11" body lol. I drive an '08 Corolla for work and sometimes hit my knees off the steering wheel. I fit just fine in my '08 vibe though. Glad to see you got the 6M, I will NEVER buy an automatic.

Re: GenVibe meet 2014: The Planning

I live in Herrin, Illinois. I typed Pontiac IL in my phone because I had never heard of it and it says its 4 1/2 hours north. Your town it says is 5 1/2 hours north. I need to get some mods on this car, I can't show up at a meet in a bone stock car. lol

For newer people that may be interested in attending, what normally happens at these meets? And would members who haven't been on the site long be welcome?

Re: HVAC Damper Door Actuator Motor

I removed the motor in my 08 and flipped the gear without just a 5.5mm socket with a rubber band rapped around it with out loosening or removing anything else except the glove box. I noticed when I put it back when the little door opens and closes that it pauses in the middle for a second or so. Dos...

Hello from Southern Illinois

I bought a 2008 Vibe on Saturday as a gas saver for commuting to collage. Its a white base model with a 5-speed (I hate automatics, never owned one, never going to) with 89,000 miles on it. Knowing me it won't stay stock for long, so I'm on here to learn about my car and get some inspiration for som...
