Re: Front bumper damage/separation

hmmm...I beleive it's just clips right around there. No clue on the scuffs tho. I wouldn't hit it with sandpaper, that'd just make matters worse. Thanks, I read enough yesterday to think that maybe I have to peel off some of the fender well to get to the clips in there. As for the scuffs, I think I...

Re: Replaced hub/knuckle assembly on vibe;now ABS light on??

Spray the sensor and sensor well on the knuckle with brake cleaner. If the replacement knuckle is from a junkyard, it's likely it's got all kinds of crap in the sensor well. Most ABS sensor faults can be fixed by cleaning up the sensor; it's rarely due to an all out failure.

Front bumper damage/separation

I bought my car a month ago knowing that it had a little damage to the bumper. I never have taken the time to learn body work, aside from zip tying stuff together.... Anyways, can anyone tell me how to get this tightly put back together, and are there any suggestions for how to clean off the black s...

Re: Suggestions for replacing oem radio w/ aux input style r

Wal-Mart has a $30 tape deck with aux input. You'll also need a casing from there for about $10. Staying with the cheapest way, you can opt to not use a harness and cut/splice wires. Use solder and electrical tape, NOT (removed) connectors. (removed) connectors will fail after a few years. That's yo...

Re: Easy Thermostat Change Trick

I've got 136k miles on the original thermostat. Had the antifreeze replaced last year with the Toyota Pink stuff. Does anyone know how long these should last? A thermostat can easily last the life of your car. It can also easily fail any time after a few years of use. I have seen a lot of Nippon (l...

Re: Easy Thermostat Change Trick

I also change the thermostat on a regular basis. Always OEM on Japanese cars, the aftermarket ones don't look as well made. I've seen the effects of one sticking open or closed (not a pretty sight!). Back when I changed coolant in my cars every 2 years I replaced the thermostat every other coolant ...

Re: Attempting Oil Change myself for first time...

Purolator, Bosch, and Wix are all just fine. I use purolator because they are easily accessible for me. The white ones are now on the shelves at wal mart for about $3.50 where I live. There's probably nothing to gain for a 5,000 mile oil change between the white classic and the pure one; however, I ...

Re: Delphi AC System in Our Vibes

Aside from not-so-great performance, the A/C is alright. IMHO I think they under-engineered the system, it doesn't seem to handle the volume it has to cool very well. Biggest problem seems to be the recirc door motor, if yours hasn't gone bad yet just wait -- it will! The '03 I used to have chewed ...

Delphi AC System in Our Vibes

I bought my Vibe thinking it was a Toyota clone aside from the GM paint and the radio - two things that I didn't necessarily care about them screwing up. And, apparently they have done a good job messing up both tasks. My clear coat is chipped off in plenty of areas (I really don't care that much th...

Easy Thermostat Change Trick

This may have been posted before, but I changed out my thermostat today (5 year maintenance interval for thermostats in my family). I found that you don't really have to take out the alternator to take out the thermostat housing. After I popped the serpentine belt off the alternator, I removed the t...

Re: 2007 Vibe Clunky Acceleration

Well, I have driven about 800 miles this week and have gotten the hang of driving this thing without making the jerk. I am able to pull out from a stop smoothly and quick enough. I think I just had to get used to the feel of this 2007 vehicle vs. my 80's technology Volvo. Sorry to bring up a non-iss...

Re: 2007 Vibe Clunky Acceleration

When you step on the gas, does the engine not respond right away, or is it that the engine responds/speeds up and after a short period of time something catches and the car accelerates? When I step on the gas lightly, the engine spins but nothing happens, or the car moves unusually little for the a...

Re: 2007 Vibe Clunky Acceleration

Thanks for your input, Jeremy. I will definitely check out the motor mounts this weekend, while fixing my leaking spark plug seals. Which, by the way, I bought fel-pro ones and looked up the part number to find that it matches the Toyota genuine valve cover gasket. At least in this case, fel pro is ...

2007 Vibe Clunky Acceleration - SOLVED

Hey guys, I have been looking around for an answer to my question below but I can't find anything that fully fits me: I bought a vibe with 93,000 miles from a girl who appears to have taken very good care of it. She kept up with ALL the required maintenance (coolant change, transmission fluid change...
