The stock (non-monsoon) headunit was replaced about a year ago to a Kenwood Excelon - I don't have the model number handy. The front speakers are noticeably cleaner and are a definite upgrade over stock. I will dig around some more to see if anyone offers a different adapter ring for the rears befor...
Stock are 5.75 but supposedly the 6.5 or 6.75 will fit with an adapter. My problem is that the adapter ring just doesn't fit the back panel. No issues drilling rivets at all just use the recommended bit.
I just ordered 4 Kicker 40CS674 6-3/4" 2-way Speakers from Crutchfield for an '06 Vibe. Front speakers fit just fine after trimming the unnecessary tabs off the supplied mounting brackets, however, the rears are another issue entirely. No matter which way I adjust the mounting bracket I can't g...
Well problem solved folks. Turns out it was a bad diode for the CEL. I took the cluster to a local Speedo/guage shop and they fixed it right up - $85 out the door. Could have easilt taken advantage but this was a straight up guy and I couldn't be more happy.
Well, I managed to get the cluster out but it's all circuit board and LED's and I'm not comfortable enough with my skills in that area to not mess something up. I couldn't even figure out how to get ODO reset "button" off it's stem. Hopefully my local shop will be able to fix the issue wit...
Thank you for the videos. I had seen the first one but not the second. I'll have to open it up to see what kind of bulbs I have and look for videos on replacing LEDs if that's what I end up having.
I previously posted about my CEL NOT coming on http://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=40971 and propmtly forgot about it after passing the last inspection. However, since then the issue has resurfaced and I'm wondering several things... 1) Does my '06 Vibe use LEDs in the cluster ...
Thanks for the quick reply and the info. They checked for codes during the inspection and it showed clean so we're ok there. Interestingly when the mechanic was putting the cluster and dash back together after double checking the inspection guy's "work" the CEL started working again so sin...
So my little red vibe recently failed an inspection because the Check Engine Light would NOT come on. That's right folks...I'm one of the lucky ones who can't get the darn thing to come. Thinking it may be a bulb and not wanting to take the dash and cluster apart I brought it to our mechanic. Turns ...
Great info, thanks! I've read that rivets will need to be drilled out to replace speakers...will that in any way damage/weaken the existing brackets or is there another way to remove the old ones?
**I was actually looking at the polks - "great minds think alike" I guess **
It's good to hear that you got it done without any trouble. The installation gear that Crutchfield and similar stores provide makes it way easier than trying to do without. I remember installing a deck in my friend's old Mazda without an adapter harness; joining the correct wires in such a tight sp...
I'm actually getting ready to pick up a new h.u. because my cd player died as well... cd still inside. I may try to fix it once I get it out just for giggles but a new unit is definitely more appealing than trying to keep the existing one. I'm not sure what caused it but it started with the cd being...
The extras they give you at Crutchfield are the same as you would buy in store (just in oem packaging). That HU looks nice. Does it do variable colour? I know many JVC and some Pioneer units will let you match your interior dash lighting. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDA735B/JVC-Arsenal-KD-A735B...
Just installed the http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KDCX596/Kenwood-Excelon-KDC-X596.html and couldn't be happier. The sound quality is far above that of the stock unit, radio reception is great, iPad works perfectly but there are still many functions I haven't played around with yet. Installation wa...
Just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for such a great resource. We just purchased a 2006 Vibe AWD and have had a Matrix for a few years so this place is going to be home for the forseeable future
