Re: My Monroe Quick-Strut Story

I've had the monroe quick struts on my car for about a year with no problems. I tightened them with no problems at all. I used the original nuts for the studs on my car instead of the new ones provided. I think using the new nuts they provide is why you hear a lot about the studs breaking off becaus...

Re: "H" is for hassel? Tire speed ratings.

I had a buick regal a couple years ago with a new set of the 727's and they were great in the snow. They would be at the top of my list if I were looking for all season tires, long tread life, good in all weather conditions, and a pretty low price.

Re: Which lugnuts for 03-04 alloy wheels?

Those are American Racing Wheels. I forget the actual name of the wheel, but that style was popular in the 80's and 90's. I have a set of those I use for winter wheels on my Buick. I use tuner style lug nuts on them, because like you said the hole clearance is tight to get to the lug nuts. I have to...

Re: Hail damage

I vote for keeping the car and paying off the Kia. Save that monthly car payment and drive the vibe until it dies. With only 120k you may have enough to buy a car with cash when the vibe actually dies if you bank what you were paying on that Kia. You won't really miss that money since you're use to ...

Re: When the time comes what are good replacements for a vib

Our 07 vibe got totaled a few months ago and we looked for a solid month for a good first gen vibe at a decent price within a few hour driving distance to replace it and came up empty handed. Some of the prices at dealers are outrageous. Almost pulled the trigger on a focus hatch but, I know of a pe...

Re: Looking for a Vibe

searchtempest.com will check all the craigslist in a certain mile range. Our vibe was totaled a couple months ago and we looked for over a month for another vibe at a decent price, but came up empty handed. I was astounded at some of the prices dealers are asking for them. In the end, we ended up go...

Re: calling '08 Base drivers - handling in snow?

Sounds like you had crappy tires if the car had traction problems even in the rain. Do research and find a good all season tire that is good in the winter as well. I recommend tire rack for reviews. I had a set of all season hankook optimo 727s on a buick that were cheap and good in the snow. I run ...

I think if you bought a gallon used a spray gun it would turn out pretty good. If you rattle can it it would probably look like crap with streak marks all over it.

white would be hard to clean since this is a flat/semi gloss paint and would probably stain

Re: If I ever jump ship it will be FOR THIS!!!

I almost bought a focus st about a month ago. If you look around on the net their are some forums for them. It seems that some of the focus st's are having trans problems already(slave cylinder leaking internally onto the clutch and destroying it and cracking the flywheel)and some dealers will not w...

Re: Anybody have AAA?

I've had AAA for the past few years and have gotten my use out of it every year, considering that 1 tow will pay for the whole price of it. I had my cavalier break down at my work 65 miles away and had it towed home for free. It would have cost $250 for that one tow if I didn't have AAA. I have a fe...

Re: Opinion needed, brake color

I say black as well. I think it looks weird when drums are painted a bright color, and especially a disc/drum combo.

I think painting calipers on a car that has 4 wheel disc brakes a bright color look pretty good.

Re: Homer to Lisa: "Never Help Anyone"

It sounded like the car needed quite a bit of work, so he obviously had to put some money into it, probably at least $1500. I sold a family member a car dirt cheap because they fell on hard times and didn't have anything to drive. They sold it a couple weeks later for 3x what I sold it to them for.....

Re: And the winner is.... VERSA!

I had an 2012 versa sv sedan as a rental a few months ago and was really impressed with it. It had a pretty big back seat with lots of legroom. According to the gauges the car was getting 38 mpg at 65-70 mph. The base cars are the really cheap ones, but if you want an auto, pw, pl, etc the price jum...

I have been using the general altimax artics for several years and love them.

I'm running 15 inch celica wheels with 195/65/15 with the generals on the vibe.

Re: Potential Vibe Owner Here

Not sure what BG plan is, but I wouldn't pay an extra dime for any kind of warranty on a 10 year old car, especially one that is reliable as the vibe is.

Sounds like a nice car, but hopefully you can work on the price.

Re: cheap n easy mod ideas for the beginner?

You could take apart your headlights and paint them black, and you also could paint your grille black too. Total cost about $10 for black spray paint and silicone. I prefer the fusion paint because it sticks to plastic well. I took my headlights apart with a heat gun. The whole area you paint black ...

Re: Still on the hunt - '04 & '06

Keep looking not a chance I'd pay anywhere near 6k for one with 130k, still some hail damage, and a salvage title. The 2nd one is very nice, but the guy is dreaming at that price. You'll find the best deals on craigslist from private sellers. I've seen some nice one without salvage titles in the 3-6...

Newb with 07 vibe already modding

Hi My name is Rob and I have an 07 vibe that I picked up a few months ago. The car is mostly stock and has 86k. I've put Tein H springs, Tokico struts, Progress rear sway bar, bronze 17's, 20% tint, painted the headlights, de badged the sides, and since the pics were taken I've painted the grill and...
