Re: What would You Have GM Change on Future Vibes? (MadBill)

i think pontiac should offer:1) sport package at no extra cost 2) full time AWD3) a worked over 2ZZ with stronger bottom end/new internals with factory installed supercharger at least at 7-10psi (low compression internals)4) tinted headlights, and HIDs (if those aren't already an option...didn't thi...

Re: is this true???????? (coratz)

actually if it's the automatic XRS, that will do 0-60 in slower than 9 seconds, so a 5-speed base model vibe or matrix will beat it in most acceleration tests. it would be closer on highway runs with edge to the XRS, and XRS should have higher top speed.

Re: new ram-air hood (NovaResource)

latest update:I am working on it. I need 5 people to be around that price, maybe a little less. 5 guys to step to plate. One of the distributors in Canada can sell 1 at a time for $1200.00 Canadian. You have to figure out shipping but it comes in a box.so for 5 people, it's $1000 CDN not including s...

Re: The "rightway" to Turbocharge the 2zz engine (Admin II)

i dunno for sure about the auto in the 1ZZ model, but the U240E in the 2ZZ models can take about 260hp at the crank and that's pushing it for reliability if you have an ATF cooler. i've seen it take more, but the guy's car started to run like crap so he sold it before he figured out if it was someth...

Re: Vibe quarter mile times (rasermon)

that's a great time that would definitely be over 90mph at the track and a low-mid 15 second time.and i know what you mean about trying to take a picture of the flashing numbers also the rev limiter on the 1ZZ is about 7000-7100rpm. if you have a stock engine, shifting a little before that (like ind...

Re: new ram-air hood (Flip-Side)

i'll pass along your questions and the only thing that really restricts the air in the stock airbox is the paper air filter and it's location, not the actual box itself. the diameter of the intake piping is the same as any CAI.their 7hp was calculated from a test air filter. hardly sound enough for ...

Re: new ram-air hood (VibeInTx)

it's almost $1000 CDN (~$700 USD?) that's a bit pricey, but it's a true ram-air setup, and can't even properly be dynoed. no dyno fan is gonna replicate the amount of air forced in with that hood closed and at higher speeds. although considering their reputation and times of cars with ram-air setups...

Re: Vibe quarter mile times (abe98gt)

don't forget guys, if you're using the GTech Pro, the trap speeds are about 4-5mph too high because it gives the instantaneous speed at the quarter mile mark...the track uses a speed trap over the last few meters.

Re: %Toyota and %Pontiac (mlevine)

actually just the head on the 2ZZ (VVTL-i) is done by yamaha, but designed by both yamaha has done work for Toyota before, and i think Toyota has a big share in the company now.one of their other popular projects was the V6 in the old Taurus SHO, that was a cool motor, surprising to find a V6 that l...

Re: Water injection they key to suppressing detonation

this is pretty old school like putting in a quart of ATF into the engine oil to clean things up right before an oil change i wonder if my car's brief stint with water (got sucked up the intake pipe) had any 'positive' effects

Re: AWD vibe? (sfvibe)

i've test driven the matrix 4wd, and it handles very well. it has an independent suspension while the fwd vibe/matrices are stuck with torsion beams only complaint was obviously lack of power, and toyota's admitting the AWD system isn't "robust" enough to handle a lot of power. it'd be coo...
