Re: Did a search. No answer. (Bryan)

Let me start off with some history on my end. My first vehicle was a 1987 Ford Ranger 2.3l. Talk about a mechanical nightmare but that is another story. Upon cold startup, the valve tappets would make a gut wrenching rapid rapping noise that would last up to five seconds. While valve noise was not t...

Re: Did a search. No answer. (ColonelPanic)

The sound is not like when the car is in the wrong gear. That noise is a heavy knock while the one I'm experienceing is a slight fluttering. The vsv as you call it is a totally different noise. If I remember, that noise is a constant "tick, tick, tick" noise comming from the air box. I'm j...

Did a search. No answer.

So, like many noises that I haven't noticed before, I can't remember if they were there all along or had just manifested. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that my valves make a soft fluttering noise durring accelleration and only durring accelleration. I cannot get the car to make the noise if I rev...

Re: Bad GT fuel milage. (Bryan)

Well, I've finally come to a conclusion. The GT engine is VERY tempermental about fuel additives. Shortly before I got to 6000 miles, my mileage went back to upper twentys with in-city driving. When I did my second oil change, I put another bottle of fuel system cleaner in when I got fuel. Same thin...

Re: Steering wheel adjustment. (ragingfish)

Thanks guys for replying. Well, I need to clarify some things. First, when I got the car, the alignment was "dead on" but the steering wheel would sit off in the "one o'clock" position while driving straight. I took it back to the guy I bought it from and he told me that it was a...

Steering wheel adjustment.

I have posted about this topic before but now want to know details. When I got my car it had perfect alignment but the steering wheel would be off in the "1 o'clock" position while driving straight. I had a local alignment shop fix the problem. They said it was a simple adjustment. What I ...

Help! Scratched cladding.

Was backing out of a driveway two nights ago and fell off the curb. Scratched up the left underside of my front bumper. The damage isn't too noticible to anyone except me. Would I be able to lightly "wet sand" the area to reduce the appearance of the scratches? I have the two tone body so ...

Plastic body cladding damage.

Was washing my car last night and came across some rough spots on the plastic body cladding. The spots were right behind each rear wheel and also along the bottom of the running boards. My therory is that road salt is to blame for this. It hasn't become an eye-sore yet but I can't buff it out being ...

Re: Passing on a tip. (Bryan)

I am going to wrap up this horror story for those that are interested.I decided after this event that I was going to try giving the dealer one more chance to redeem themselves. I had to wait a couple of weeks because I had family coming into town for the holidays. Meanwhile, my first refuel since th...

Re: Does the GT really require premium? (rAERRK)

I've never had the courage to try anything lower than 91 octane. What I have noticed is that whenever I use a fuel system cleaner, my milage goes in the crapper! Seriously! Try from 28 mpg to 23 mpg. I think that it has something to do with the cleaner reducing the volitility of the fuel...err somet...

Passing on a tip.

So yesterday I took my car into the dealership to have the 6000 mile service and warranty work done. I told the service manager that I wanted a 6000 mile service thinking that he knew that that included an oil change and tire rotation. (At least that was what was in the manual.) Well little did I kn...

Re: Bad GT fuel milage. (thorntcl)

thorntcl,If you disconnect the negative power lead from your battery, you will reset your ecu. Just be sure to leave it disconnected for at least a minute. As far as the radio, it like the odometer, has some sort of battery back-up. When I did this procedure on my Vibe, my presets were still there b...

Re: Bad GT fuel milage. (StampedeVibe)

I talked to my friend and he owns a VW Jetta. He says his milage has been crappy too. I guess it might be a bad batch of gas in town. But just to be on the safe side, I'm going to make an appointment at the dealer. Thanks to all for the advice.

Re: Bad GT fuel milage. (Bryan)

As an experiment, I removed all of my bike rack and reset the computer by disconnecting the negative battery terminal lead. I'll see if there is an improvement.Oh, and by the way, durring my oil change I had the dealer adjust my steering wheel and parking brake. I only needed the steering wheel adju...

Bad GT fuel milage.

Hey y'all,I have a question reguarding fuel milage on the Pontiac Vibe GT. Mine currently has about 3500 miles on it and I've consistantly been getting 27 to 29 MPG with mixed driving. When I had my oil change, I put in a container of Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner. Since then, my milage has dr...

Was wondering how you like your Kenwood deck with you Pioneer speakers? Does you deck give the speakers enough power? How does it blend in with the rest of the dash lighting? I'm considering a similar setup but with the newer Kenwood color shock deck...or possibly the base Excellon deck. I appreciat...

Need opinions.

Okay, I've come down to this for my first upgrade. Pioneer TS-A1680R 4-Way Speakers in front and back. Also, a pioneer GM-4000F to drive the new speakers. Both items have great reviews on CarDomain.com. For right now I was thinking of a "line level input" into my factory deck. Thoughts? By...

Re: (Jahntassa)

Okay, say I replace everything. Do I have to keep the factory headunit in the car? I've heard certain GM products require this for the diagnotics to work properly. Also, what kind of power do I look for in a deck? If I get a high powered deck with new speakers, do I even need a sub? Crutchfield says...

Okay guys and gals, I need your opinion. I have 04 Vibe GT with just the standard audio setup. I couldn't buy the Moon and Tunes package since I bought my car used. While I totally love my car, I think the standard audio setup leaves something to be desired. Therefore, I've been investigating possib...

Factory HU question.

I just got my Vibe last week and discovered something weird about the factory HU. Every so often, a totally random and undamaged disk will refuse to play or will play very poorly. The HU makes a sort of scraping sound when "spinning up" and while changing tracks with these disks. My questi...

Hey everybody, I'm new here. I am the proud father of a 2004 Vibe GT (Abyss). I took delivery of him last Wednesday. I've been waiting for five years to have a new car and it has finally happened. Sometimes I don't know if I should be excited or scared out of my mind. If you can't tell, I've never m...
