Re: (syclnjr)

I didn't want to bad mouth the dealership but besides the story you already read they also sold me a bad vehicle previous to this one. In thier defence they bought back the "bad" vehicle, 2003 Matrix XRS, nad gave me this for the same $$. Jack Giambolvo is the dealership. They are located ...

Re: (goodvibe)

Well I took my vibe to the dealer and here is what they had to say. -The valve tap is normal. When I asked why it did it the service manager said he doesn't know but others do it.-The fuel mileage is ok because some of the tanks are acheiving a top fuel mileage that is not ten percent lower than the...

Re: New 04 Vibe GT! Question about air intake systems (trdvibe)

I may have misspoken. Typically an exhaust system will do more for a stock vehicle than an intake. After more research it appears that the intake will indeed give you more bang for the buck. Sorry about that, I'm more in tune with other makes and have alot to learn about Toyota evidentlly.

Re: (goodvibe)

also the oil weight issue. I am running 5w30 as the manufacturer specifies. This should be ok considering the mild climate we have this time of year. Even if this is causing the noise problem I think maybe the fuel economy would not be an issue. This is unless I need say a 0/50 weight. But this seem...

Re: (goodvibe)

I have been working on cars for awhile now and the noise is definitely the valvetrain. It is very similar to having a low oil level or pressure issue. The dip stick, however, indicates full level. I have an appointment on Monday to get it checked out by the GM authority. They are also telling me tha...

Re: New 04 Vibe GT! Question about air intake systems (bigwonder)

The single best performance increase per $$ would probably be the exhaust, next would be the intake. I personally will go with the intake and then the exhaust because of money reasons. Try http://www.INjEN.com. Also check out ebay. All of the Matrix Xrs part except the body parts and the eletronic pa...

Re: Odd ignition sound (Smokin' Rubber)

How long ago did you put the exhaust and intake on? From what I understand the ecu tunes itself during driving. This can take awhile before any thing is noticed. This may be the reason GM instructions the sc users to drive for so many miles before taking notice of perfomance changes. Anyway is seems...

Re: raising`uhe rev limiter (futseal04)

A plug in device would be like the device GM provides with the sc. This plugs into the ecu as a piggyback unit. I believe that raising the rev limiter a few thousand rpms would be worth it since the vvti allows for max HP at around 6800. I am still getting aquinted with the toyota VVTi operation, bu...

Re: engine noise after syntheic pretty obnoxious (goodvibe)

I have a little over 2000 miles on my Vibe and changed to Mobil 1 at 1500 miles. I noticed that I have a terrible valve train noise when cold or after driving 50 miles on the highway. It did this with conventional oil also. Another point of interest is my fuel ecomony really sucks @ 28 mpg highway. ...

Re: shifter fork? (marlborocowboy82)

I use to bend forks in my laser. It seems to come from "slam" shifting it. I never had any trouble to with any of my rear drive cars. I think it may have to do with the the stress the linkage applies to it as compared to a shifter that mounts directly to the trans.

Re: raising the rev limiter (Faultline)

Replacing the ecu or adding a plug in type device is the best way to go. Actually it may be the only way to go. If you try to scale the sensor input it could really mess up timing(ignition, injector, vvt). I believe even if you could just give it a max span, meaning that the ecu never thinks it goes...

Re: Good-Bye to my Vibe (champcaracing)

I'm new here, just got my Vibe last week. Just wanted to comment-many new engines designs have significant problems. The true test is if the manufacturer will stand behind them and fix it.
