Re: Killed my engine...Help!

For some reason I wasn't getting any notifications about new posts here but I just wanted to pop back in here and say thanks for all your help and suggestions. This is a nice helpful forum. Sadly I'm leaving the Vibe club. I knew I was on borrowed time at best but it didn't even get me to work befor...

Re: Killed my engine...Help!

I forgot about that site! A friend introduced me to it a few years ago but I hadn't thought of it today and though I knew to look for the Matrix motor I didn't realize the Corolla also used it. Thank you. I'll check out the site and see what I can find. Edit: Additional question. I seem to remember ...

Killed my engine...Help!

Today was a very sad day for both me and my 2004 Vibe... This morning I was driving to a meeting a bit behind schedule and was stuck behind a slow rolling school bus. Had to put the pedal to the metal to pass it and while passing, I was alarmed to feel the RPM keep rising but my acceleration didn't ...

Re: 2004 Vibe stalling at random

So I have a huge Vibe issue today and just realized I never posted the outcome of the stalling problem. After my last post the issue didn't show up again for a few months. Then it came back. Tired of messing with it I threw in the towel and took it to a local dealership that was a Pontiac dealer bef...

Re: 2004 Vibe stalling at random

So I picked up a bottle of fuel system cleaner, poured it in and and topped off my tank with premium just to rule out any possibility of water in the fuel or something easy. So far it's been running great. Drove it home Wednesday with no issue. Thursday I didn't go into the office but a 12 mile trip...

Re: 2004 Vibe stalling at random

After a little Googling it sounds like maybe the ECM/PCM issue but the recall only covers 2005-2008 Just to be accurate, the PCM recall was certain 2005-2008 Vibes. The ECM recall was certain 2003-2004 Vibes. Ah. Didn't know the difference. Thank you. I remember specifically in my letter that they ...

2004 Vibe stalling at random

Hey all, I haven't posted here in a long time but everyone here was very helpful when I was posting. Now I have a big problem. My 2004 Vibe base model started stalling at random two days ago. The first time I was just about to turn into my driveway (lucky that) and suddenly I had no power steering t...

The search is over!

After much searching I put a deposit on a 2004 Vibe base automatic last night. It has just under 24,000 miles and is a one owner vehicle until now. It was in one accident. It was hit in the front end but the damage didn't go beyond the radiator. The hood, front fenders and bumper cover were replaced...

How long does a Vibe last?

Okay I realize that is a very vague question and that there are a million things that factor in. I'm just looking for a rough idea how many miles one can expect to get out of a 2003 - 2006 Vibe (base model). I'm actively looking for one but having a hard time finding any with less than 100,000 in my...

AWD?

I just looked at a 2003 with 48000 miles. I found it on craigslist. It was super clean but the ad forgot to mention that it was an all-wheel-drive. Under the hood it said VVT-i. Is that the GT motor? I don't want anything that needs premium fuel. I don't know much about the AWD version. Are they as ...

Re: Which Vibe should I get? (lovemyraffe)

Thanks for all the info. I hadn't heard that the 2003 had issues with the 5-speed manual transmission. Is this common opinion? Are '04 & '05 better? I could try to look for a 6-speed manual but I don't see too many of them. My price range tops out around $7000 and that's only if I find a really ...

Which Vibe should I get?

Hi all,I'm new to the forum. I don't yet own a Vibe. I have done some howework and based on my needs I've decided to buy a used Vibe. My budget limits me to the 2003 to 2005 range. Most of the Vibes I'm finding in my price range have 100 to 140 thousand miles on them. Based on what I've read a well ...
