Lug Nut Upgrade for Allow Wheels

The lug nuts that come with the allow wheels have a sheet metal cover. This cover gets deformed by shops using impact guns and over-tightening the nuts. They become "swollen" and a 21mm socket will no longer fit. A socket has to be beat on with a hammer and then the nut won't come out of t...

Re: What do you plug into your 110 outlet?

This past Thanksgiving, the power went out in the house we were all gathered in. There were ~50 of us, dinner was cooked and there was plenty of daylight to eat by. There was however a margarita mixer that was without power. It drew way more power than the Vibe was meant to handle, and it did trip a...

Aerodynamic Mods

Today was one of those shocking days where I found myself with 6 whole hours that were not yet spoken for. Armed with a Lowes gift card (from Christmas) and half a sheet of coroplast (left over from rennovating the guinea pig cages), I set out to make my base '07 Vibe a little more fuel efficient. T...

Exhaust / Gas tank Heatshield

For the archives - This effects 2003 to 2007 Vibe and Matrix. Under the car, beneath the rear passenger seating area hangs the gas tank and exhaust. Their is a heat shield between them which is held on with four small bolts. Three of them are in the front and screw into the car's body, the single re...

I've had my 2007 Base for about a month now. Full synthetic oils in the motor & trans. New spark plugs and air filter. Tires at 35psi and are in good shape. Bone stock. Mostly urban driving, in and around Philadelphia with the A/C cranked up... between 29 and 31 mpg.

Adding Cig Lighter Plug to Center Console

My 2007 has the hole for a cigarette lighter outlet in the center console but it looks like there was never an outlet in it. I went to Pepboys and picked up a "universal" dash mount outlet and it was a near-perfect fit. The hole had to be trimmer a hair but it is even keyed to properly fit...

In the past, I've used hard-wired FM modulators and they work great. The hard-wired ones plug into the antenna wire and I can't tell the difference between them and an aux-input. To use these on GM vehicles usually requires an additional adapter because GM tends to use a smaller antenna plug (no big...

New Vibe Owner

Just a few days ago I picked up a 2007 Vibe, white, 5 speed. It was chosen because I wanted an American station wagon or small van which got good mileage. A Focus wagon was the first choice but they feel kind of "cheap". The Vibe could use a little more cargo capacity but otherwise it's pe...
