Re: New Shoes for my daughter's Vibe (star_deceiver)

Yeah, not for everyone, but she really liked them and my uncle would do anything for my kid. He is a former bike gang leader, no kids... and has taken it upon himself to be the official spoiler of my daughter in his old age. I asked him if he used the "old tactics" to get the wheels. With ...

New Shoes for my daughter's Vibe

The part # is 17800444, but my uncle picked up a display set of 4 with the Pontiac center caps for $200. I think the kid will be happy.

Got it figured out (I think). The noise was actually in the front end. I pulled the front wheels and found that both calipers had worn seals, so I will be replacing those. I also discovered a torn CV boot. There is plenty of grease, and the joint seems fine, but I am going to replace the axle and cv...

I'm also a motorcylce rider and drive like a ride -- with my head on a swivel. So far, 30 years without an accident.

This was interesting to look at gas prices back when this thread started - WOW. I paid, $3.79 on US 70 on the east side of Columbus.

I had a 89 Camry that was over 400,000 when I gave it to a Christian charity in 2008. The new owner, so happy to have a reliable car, sent me a photo of the odometer showing 500,000 miles on it. Do they even make 6 digit analog odometers anymore? I think I will be irritated when my '06 Vibe hits 299...

Thanks! We looked for a used armored car, but the stereos were lousy and we decided parallel parking would be tough.

Re: Gas Buster article (jake75)

Driving my daughter's Vibe I get between 27-35 based entirely how I stop and start. Slow starts and long stops with not much change in speed on the in-between made a significant difference in economy. I've only run two tanks through it, so much is yet to be learned.

My father-in-law worked for GM in Anderson, IN for 35 years and he LOVED the Pontiac line from the GTO of the early 70's to the Vibe of the 00's. I think I would have dumped Buick, before Pontiac!

New Vibe Owners Father

After riding in her 76 year old grandmother's 2009 Vibe, she decided that she wanted a Vibe or a Matrix. Well, last week, my daughter pulled the trigger on a silver 2006 Vibe with 34K miles. It has an automatic tranny, moonroof, monsoon stereo and only a few minor exterior blemishes. She is only 15 ...

Thanks for the welcome and response. I'm going in today to get shims put on rear to help with alignment. I'm putting a little money in my daughter's car, but I only paid $9K for a good car with less than 35K miles on it. The car runs great and she is thrilled with it. Thanks again.

2006 Vibe Rear wheel/axle squeaking

Hi, I just bought a 2006 Vibe w/ 34K miles on it for my daughter's first car. Runs great, new breaks, new tires, new battery, etc. I think I'll love the car. After driving for a while if I park the car and then move in reverse with no pressure on the brakes, I get a high pitched squeak from the rear...
