I sure don't know how it happened but a noninterference motor shouldn't eat valves without float. Maybe the bent crank got a piston high enough but why did the crank get bent. Wierd failure. Glad you're rollin again.

Valves should be fine if the pulley slipping was the only problem. I believe that these are non-interference motors and the only way to bang the valves is by overrevving and making them float. The cam not spinning with the crank is not good as there's a chain connecting them. Maybe the pulley slippe...

What fluid are you using(have used)? It's all about getting the right Visc. and friction with the synchros. you could be too slick. If you're changing that often, Synth has no added value other than maybe shifting better in extreme cold until warmed up. A fluid change could fix this, or at least imp...

He did fine by tuning for B. The difference in the 2 maps is only advance. There's only one shared fuel map so you can't really tune for both. Mao A is basically in case you have knock or timing retard. May come in handy if B is at the edge and you've got the air on with the car at near max load.

It would probably run cooler, with less power and more emissions. Octane is resistance to knock so that you can use higher compession or FA. It's actually less easy to combust so you may get a less complete burn and there's not more inherent energy there to begin with. No benefit of higher than 93.

You've gat a GT and it opens to let more air into the motor at higher RPM s. Closed allows for better throttle response and a bit more torque down low and open for more HP up high. I don't think it opens until you're closer to 4k to keep things quiter for normal driving.

Wow! I just looked at some of the stuff you've tried, Proton. If you've lost mileage, it's probably not the ecu. I'd look for a leak in the intake after the MAF or something that may not have been put back 100% from one of your tests. Hose from PVC or something like that.

Mods? If you've got an intake and/or exhaust, it could be running lean until the ECU adjusts. Better mileage but less performance for 100 miles or so. If not clean your MAF especially if you've gat an oiled filter. Other than that I don't have a clue.
