To prevent this in the future, just run the fan on high in the vent mode (a/c off, recirc off) for several minutes before shutting the car off. This will dry out the a/c evaporator condensation that causes the odor. This is a very common problem on all vehicles, although some drain better than others.

When I'm close to my destination, I'll usually kick off the A/C, crank up the fan, and make sure that the fresh air mode is selected. Otherwise, the water is sitting there in the system, stagnant. That stinks. Also, I've found in the past, if you run in recirculate mode too often, it could cause a bit of a stink as well.
