Maybe it's just me, but the back looks a lot like a Hummer H2

Hey now, I drive a "Heep!" (Wrangler) That thing doesn't look all that different than the current GC to me. The front end treatment with the round headlights is a little more liberty-ish, but still looks a lot like the current GC.Jeep enthusiasts are going to be angry with DC once again. Another Jeep now has an independent front suspension (so does Liberty). They are taking them mass market, and turning off their core buyers with each new vehicle. If they screw up the next Wrangler, due around 2006, they might as well badge everything as a "Dodge" and be done with it.

The back end looks like a Ford and the front looks like a Liberty. The side looks like an older model of something. It's a step backwards for the Grand, I think.

For some reason every time I try to think of what the green one looks like, the words "smiling turtle" pop up in my head.

Is that an independent front suspension I see?Man, the Jeepers are gonna be really pissed about that!! (Real Jeepers, not soccer moms who happen to drive Jeeps)I guess that means the Wrangler is now Jeeps only Fully Solid Axle vehicle left? (liberty is IFS too)

Down hill Assist is for people who don't know how to drive. Why would you want it?The 4runner has (what is equivalent to) an electonic locker. The Xterra is using a Dana Rear Axle (Might be a Dana 44), which can have a mechanical locker installed pretty easily. Personally, I have more faith in mechanical parts vs electronic parts. Mechanical parts have been in HEAVY use for the last couple of decades, whereas nobody really knows how long electronics are going to last - since they are so new.I have a friend who got a new 4runner this past summer. He paid nearly $40K for a fully loaded V8 model. A Fully loaded Xterra with "Everything you need, nothing you don't" should still cost under $30K (or so I am guessing). Sure the 4runner is nicer and has more options, but thats the way it should be when its $10K more.I looked at the 4runner before I got my Xterra. My sister and brother each have one. They both paid about $28-35K for theirs. (My brother has an SR5, and my sister has a limited) I paid only $23K for my Xterra and am very happy with it.See what Xterra's can do WITHOUT hill decent help:
http://www.xterraownersclub.com/gox/htt ... om/xterra/(Then again, you can pay just a couple of grand for a used Jeep (that doesn't have any fancy electronic gadgets) and wheel it where no -stock- Xterra or 4runner can go.)
