2009 Vibe, 2.4L, manual transmission. Had a known bad left front wheel speed sensor, but also getting codes for C0200 (right speed sensor) and C1541 Vehicle Speed Signal, intermittent at first but now full time, with no power steering, speedometer, odometer, and ABS/traction control lights on.

Before I fire the parts cannon at it, I want to check the grounds. Alldata says the ground is at G106 and describes that as the right front of the engine compartment.

I can't see ANY grounds of any kind in this generic area. In fact the only grounds I could find were both beside the battery on the opposite side (and they were fine and clean).

Is it hidden i.e. do I have to pull all the plastic covers off to find it? Surely someone else has some info on this.

I also can't find any vehicle speed sensors in order to check connections. Its a manual transmission, not automatic. NO reference anywhere from anything about vehicle speed sensors on manual transmissions, not even any part number references. And cannot visually see any connectors into the gearbox for anything. Does the manual just rely on wheel speed sensors to generate a signal for vehicle speed? Wondering how I can have an error code on a part that apparently does not exist.

My 2009 2.4L auto has a ground cable on the right side of engine(passenger side). One end is attached to the cylinder hear above the alternator and below the oil filler cap. The cable runs over and is attached to the fender. You need to remove the radiator overfill tank as cable is under that on fender.
If memory serves me right, the rear ABS sensor cables had corrosion problems at the connectors were the extension cables from the ABS sensor plug in the the wiring cable at the body. Check your rear ABS wheel speed sensors connections at the sensors and were the extension cables plug into the body. Be sure to use dielectric grease at the connector to seal out water. The corrosion can cause issues like you are seeing. This is a know issue on Matrix. The Toyota Matrix is the twin to the Vibe, so that can be another source to check for parts too.

Regarding the rear sensors, wouldn't they have thrown error codes if the problem was in the connection to them?

For anyone interested, I discovered that the grounds (G107) are on the passenger side under the bumper skin. I.e. you have to remove the bumper to get at them.

It may be possible also by removing the inner wheel house but, removing the bumper in my case was actually easier in terms of those plastic fasteners. To each their own.

In my case, the grounds were excellent and not the source of the problem.
