Belated introduction

Post by ReddBoots79 »

Hi all. I'm Shawn, and currently living in Muncie IN. I got my 09 Vibe in April as some of you noticed in the engine/transmission board. It wasn't low mileage by any means at 127k, but compared to higher priced Matrixes and Corollas I checked, it was/is in great condition. Thanks to the tips from members here, I got the transmission fluid changed and it's even better now.

I was planning on selling it in a year, but I just love driving this little thing and that cargo space is just perfect. Hoping I can get 300k out of it at least.

Fun side fact, there was one at 300k+ locally that I passed out on. One owner who changed the oil every 5k like clockwork. As far as I know, he merely wanted something with a softer suspension now that he's retired.

Definitely keep it for a few years. Good mileage, easy to work on, and likely paid for. Very affordable transportation!

If the original owner legitimately changed the oil regularly and kept it well maintained, then i wouldn't blink an eye on purchasing it despite the high mileage. Probably could get it for a couple thousand max!

He went to the same dealership he got the car from, so everything was on record on Carfax. This was in March and I think he sold it for $4k. Mine has less than half the milage and I paid $6500 (which included new brakes, serpentine belt, tires and front axle).

There's some rust naturally because it was mostly driven in Michigan, but the frame is solid. I plan on spraying some liquid film before winter kicks in.

Sounds like you've found a great deal with your '09 Vibe, Shawn! With regular maintenance, reaching 300k miles seems very achievable—enjoy the ride and that fantastic cargo space!
