FYI, if you don't have an owners manual, you can download a PDF of it here at
https://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=755

Page 6-76 of the 2003 owners manual says the transaxle capacities are
Automatic Transaxle
1.8L Engine (Code 8) . . . . . . . . . 3.3 quarts (3.1 L)
1.8L Engine (Code 8)
with AWD . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.1 quarts (2.9 L)
Manual Transaxle
Five-Speed . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.0 quarts (1.9 L)
Six-Speed . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.4 quarts (2.3 L)
so 2.4 quarts (2.3 L)

Also, on page 6-28, it says
How to Add Fluid
Here’s how to add fluid. Refer to the Maintenance
Schedule to determine what kind of fluid to use. See
“Recommended Fluids and Lubricants” in the Index.
1. Remove the filler plug.
2. Add fluid at the filler plug hole. Add only enough
fluid to bring the fluid level up to the bottom of the
filler plug hole.
3. Install the filler plug. Be sure the plug is fully seated.
