Front wiper motor running slowly when in high speed

2009 Vibe base 1.8 with a wiper stalk with the single intermittent speed on it. High speed suddenly started running slowly -- slower than low speed. No problems with low speed or intermittent -- just high speed. Is this likely to have been caused by the high speed setting on the motor being blown, and a replacement motor would solve it? I'm assuming it can't be the switch or relay, since the high speed *does* run, albeit slowly.

Yes, guessing, or gambling, the odds on favorite is the wiper motor. It could be the switch too or a wiring issue. Check voltages at the motor connector to make sure that you have full power to the motor and if you do full power to the motor at the high speed connection, then it is the motor that is bad. Here is a link to electrical schematics:

Look around page 261 for wiper motor wiring and connectors.

Below is a link to wiper information on 2003 to 2008 models but will give you some insight as to what to check. You will have to cross check the information from the above wiring diagram to what is shown in the link below to figure out if the connectors are configured and wired the same, I do not know if the wiring is the same for the wipers between the first and second generations of the Vibe. You need to determine that.

Thank you for the detailed info, Jolt! I will test the connections and report back.
