2009 vibe airbag code 43

I have a 2009 Pontiac Vibe.
I am getting the B1660/43 code for the airbag.
Was wondering if anyone had the pages out of the service manual to help me track down fixing the issue.
Didn't feel like spending the $200 for the repair manual, anyone know where I can find it for a more reasonable price?
I found it for some other Toyota's online, but the connector for the airbag light is different.
Should be in the 'RS' section
I already have the airbag SDM module out, replaced the airbag indicator lamp.

Welcome to GenVibe David. I have the original 3-volume set and will scan some pages later tonight and get you the information. In the meantime upload a pic of your Vibe and let us know a bit more about it (trim level, options, mileage, etc) Also Location? We just could end up being your neighbor if we knew where you're from. Thanks ............ Tim

Tim, thanks for the response. I updated my sig and profile with that info.
Vibe has been good to me, except for the airbag light. Been staring at it for years, was hoping latest clock spring recall would fix it, but of course not.
I've done a lot of work on cars over the years, when I got the $900 bill to fix the airbags I figured I'd give it a go.
The same part that cost $416 from the GM dealer cost $120 from Toyota.
Toyota part #: 89170-01100
GM part #: 19184922
The SDM module I took out has the Toyota # right on it.
I'll probably have to bring it back in to the dealer to get it programmed, we'll see.
BUT wanted to check the wiring first before I gambled on $120.

Tim, don't worry about it. I used a procedure from an earlier Toyota Matrix I found on the web. The connector on the airbag indicator lamp was different, found a diagram of it though.
I ran through the diagnostic, wiring is good as is the indicator lamp, must be the main airbag computer. Just ordered it.
For future reference, here is a 03-07 Matrix service manual section for the 43 airbag code:
https://worldtracker.org/media/library/ ... 280015.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Attached is the connector diagram for the airbag indicator light plug. Wires 6 and 7 are P-AB and PAON from what I can tell.
I am going to try using a Toyota part # to see if that module will work instead of the GM sourced module. The one in my car says Toyota on it and has the Toyota part # on it.

That did it! No reprogramming necessary. Replaced the air bag computer and the code 43 is gone. Had to take out a good bit of the middle console to get to the air bag computer.
I used a new Toyota part, $300 cheaper than the same Pontiac part.
Hopefully someone else can save themselves $780. It cost me an extra $200 for the GM folks to diagnose it (twice)

I'm looking at needing to replace the SDM module in my Vibe as well. How involved is the replacement?

It isn't too bad. Hardest part is getting enough of the center console out to access it. From start to finish it probably took 1.5 to 2 hours very roughly.

It is located on the floor in front of the shifter under the dash

I had to pull the center console/arm rest back, the plastic around the shifter I had to take off, and undo the cup holders area, couple of small panels near where your feet go. It sounds like a lot but the hardest part is figuring out where it all screws together, once you know how it goes together it is pretty quick. I didn't completely undo where the emergency break goes through, I just sort of twisted it and moved it to the side, wasn't sure how to get the E brake boot off the handle.
replacing the module itself isn't too bad, a few bolts and the wiring connector. a bit awkward due to its location.
I wish I would have taken pics, but you know how it is when you get knee deep into something, you just want to get it done.
