Sensitive Alarm

I recently purchased a 2010 Vibe and I'm having a problem with the anti-theft alarm. It seems to be sensitive to motorcycles or other loud, rumbling vehicles. Not sure what to do. Can this be fixed? Not sure that I actually want to disable the alarm system.

Welcome to GenVibe. Update your profile showing us your location when you get a chance. Also post pics of your Vibe soon. Onto your "sensitivity" problem. I'm not sure how much detail the owners manual goes into on the alarm & related components BUT I own the three volume set of Helm manuals and can look up some info for you if it would help. Our two 2009 Vibes do NOT have the factory alarm package. Remember ..... location & pictures soon :D

Here are two links that may help you or at least give you some info about the system and adjusting it if possible:

GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR (GBS) OWNER’S GUIDE
http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document ... 0289-D.pdf

Adjustment for Toyota, which is what the Vibe basically is.
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/61-2n ... tment.html

The module is behind the glove box. The right hand side top module with the smaller plug from the picture in my manual. You will need to unbolt and remove the module to find the adjustment hole from the info in the above link. My Vibe does not have this so I have no first hand knowledge about it. The system in the Vibe is a Toyota system so Google for more info about adjusting the glass breakage sensor. When noise is setting it off, it is most likely this system. You can do the test in the first link to check.
