Add cruise control to 2009 vibe?

I am looking to buy a 2009 vibe with the 2.4l manual transmission and it doesn't have cruise control I noticed. I know the 03-08 vibe was pretty easy to add it. Is it the same for 09-10? Chevy dealers are not helpful and some told me they don't work on vibes anymore! I'm waiting on one Toyota dealer to call me back, but he said it would be an aftermarket install. Please help

It's an easy install. You need the stalk, a wiring harness/plug and either drill a hole in the little plastic cover in the side to fit the stalk or buy one with the hole. Others have posted on here having done it for as cheaply as $130 new.

Just did the install on my 2010 base Vibe. Very simple. Below is the parts list from when I ordered the parts from gmpartscenter.net where the parts cost me about $89 delivered.

The Steering Wheel Plug (Trim Piece with pre-cut hole for Cruise stalk) I think can be bought from Toyota for probably about half that price.

Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total
19184547 F-(S)SWITCH $45.29 1 $45.29
19184548 Air Bag Wiring Harness $14.90 1 $14.90
19204916 Steering Wheel Plug $14.65 1 $14.65
19184557 F-(S)BOLT $2.49 2 $4.98

This thread is really old, but for the manual, would you need to also add the clutch release switch? I know for the older vibes, 03-08, just adding the stalk wont work if you have a manual, you also need to add the clutch release switch. I dont know if they story is the same for the 09 manual.

I'm honestly not sure. I don't know of anyone who has added cruise to a manual trans.

Okay so i just did this on my 09 manual. works perfectly.

On the 1st gen vibes, you ALSO need to get the clutch pedal release switch. on the 2nd gen vibes (09-10), the switch is already installed from the factory at the top of the clutch pedal. i believe its the reason you cant start the car without th clutch on the floor. anyway i installed the cruise with only the above parts list on an 09 manual and everything works perfectly.

Am I glad to hear this! I bought my 2009 with 2.4 and five speed when it had 12 miles on it brand new. No electronics package- it was the absolute worst month of sales in GM history (September 2008). What was available for delivery in the Bay Area was what you could choose from. Some things I have only missed in a mild way, but Highway cruise control I miss every time my right legs starts complaining on the road.

My next project. Thanks.
