Just bought our Vibe!

My partner and I agreed we both loved the way the Vibe looked when we decided to buy a new (er) car together and so our search began. We finally found our Vibe and brought her home yesterday! Needless to say I am beyond elated.

We were very lucky, we found a 2006 18,826 miles 1.8 L 4 cylinder, 126 HP, Base Vibe Stealth/Grayish Blue Exterior, Graphite Interior with the Sun and Sound package and 17" Wheels and low profile tires. Oh and did I mention it was one owner and whoever had it babied it and saved everything, including the original paper with info from the dealer?!?!

She is beautiful and drives like a dream! We are so excited to continue to pamper and love our Vibe. We are looking to eventually add keyless entry but that is the only thing we can think of we want done sooner than later.

The ONLY thing it needs is a drivers side original floor mat. The passenger side mat still looks amazingly good but unfortunately the drivers side is just a generic beat up mat that kinda fits. So, anyone who knows a place to get one for a good price let me know?

I was so excited to find an online community of people who love their Vibes as much as we already do. I look forward to getting to know everyone and learning more about our new baby :) I will add pics soon!

You can still pick up the OEM rubber mats from GM, I think.

Thanks! I was too busy driving around yesterday and it rained all day today lol. I will be taking pics after I get her back from the paint doctor. Just a few chips from basic driving but worth the quick fix. I hate leaving the car tomorrow after only just getting her though. I can feel the separation anxiety already setting in lol :P

Thanks! I will check it out. Actually, rubber mats would fair better and would be a lot easier to clean now that I think about it. ;)

Because of living in Michigan, I have the thick rubber mats and I really like them. I had them in my old Vibe, over top of the original mats, and when I was taking everything out at the collision place I noticed the original mats underneath my rubber ones were in perfect condition thanks to the protection of the 'all weather' rubber ones. I actually pulled them out - thinking "maybe I might want these with the Pontiac logo on my next Vibe if it doesn't come with them" but then ended up putting them back, thinking it was dumb to save floor mats just because they were "originals". I wish I would have kept them now that there's someone who would have used them. But if you don't find the original Vibe ones, I highly recommend the rubber mats - just make sure the rubber ones you get have the groove and lip around the border of the mat(s) so that they will actually hold in any mud or moisture. Otherwise they really won't serve any more purpose than cloth ones do. I personally prefer the ones (and mine are like this) that have many grooves all over the mats so that the moisture/mud/snow/whatever falls into the grooves and away from your shoes. When they get too full of gunk they are just an easy spray with a hose to clean.

And congrats on the new car!! Hope you enjoy your Vibe as much as the rest of us here have enjoyed ours. :D

I got my HD rubber mats at Sam's Club for $20 - front and rear.

The dealer we got the car from is getting us rubber mats on Friday (they are also touching up some small paint chips from normal wear and tear and replacing the front passenger speaker cover)

I know they are more practical but I just can't help but love the way the carpet mats look with the Pontiac name and logo on them. It's really trivial I know lol.

And thank you! I have honestly never been so excited about a car (and I have bought brand new before). I can't say enough good things about how wonderful our Vibe is. I just can't wait to load her full of camping equipment and hit the road!

Welcome! A lot of the online parts places still show the OEM carpet mat sets for sale, for around $60 or so.

Does it not have power locks? I thought all Vibes with power locks have the keyless entry fobs. If it does have locks, then probably all you need to do is buy the fobs on ebay and program them to operate your locks.

Good luck with it!

No it unfortunately doesn't have power locks or power windows. Surprisingly the windows dont bother me but I didnt have power windows for quite a few years when I first started driving. Actually, I didnt have power locks or keyless entry either lol. It might seem funny but the process of winding down the window is something I actually like.

Power locks and keyless entry is definitely all about convenience and I am always going to worry that I missed a door a left it unlocked. I can see myself developing OCD and obsessively checking and rechecking my doors

I have heard it isn't too expensive to install the power locks so I just need to find someone I can trust.

Thanks for the welcoming and good luck wishes!

Welcome to GenVibe .... BOTH of you  Let us know where you're from. If you're in the midwest anywhere then plan on seeing many of us at the 2013 GenVibe summer meet in Pontiac, Illinois. Looking forward to pics of your Vibe :D

I am from Maryland (for the time being) :D I am planning on filling out my profile and adding pics today. I went to take some pics this morning and day 3 (already!) the pollen has managed to leave a thick yellow mess on our Vibe. I am wondering about how many showers we need to cut out so we can keep the Vibe clean AND be environmentally conscious  lol

I am really excited to see this community is still active and everyone still plans meet ups! This forum seems to have a lot of wonderful people here.

Thanks for the welcome and I love your family of Pontiacs pic!

Your car must have been special ordered or something, since I can't see a dealer getting the sunroof and 17" wheels on a base non power door Vibe.

There are certainly several aftermarket keyless entry/ alarm kits available in the $100 range. Installation may be the more expensive part since it involves wiring up every door and installing the lock motors and switches. There is also a post on here where someone installed the OEM power locks/windows from a wrecked car on a base Vibe. It was involved to say the least, but it would look stock!

I can tell you from experience that she will be a great camping companion. And that 115V socket in the dash comes in real handy for blowing up an air mattress or getting that pot of morning coffee going. :D

Found some power lock info - Vibes have the cable operated locks which are a bit harder to upgrade to power.

And a thread on here installing stock parts:

Hope this helps.

Thank you! I am pretty positive I am hooked for life. And yes! I LOVE the color so much! We completely lucked into finding our Vibe when we did. We had made plans to see a few and they had issues (unfortunately). We stopped on a whim at a local dealer and it was fresh on the lot. Perfect timing, fate, luck, I say all! Lol

I did upload a pic just a minute ago but I am not sure if its showing up for others. I had tried earlier and the pic disappeared somehow. Maybe it will work this time hopefully?!?

Actually the original paper that dealers put in the car window was still in the glovebox and it came and was sold with all the features it has. Not sure if that matters about the paper but I thought it was an odd combo myself. I guess the person, if they did special order, wanted sun and sound and 17" wheels more than power locks and windows. Maybe it was a price issue but who knows lol.

I thought it would bother me more but it's actually been ok. I would much rather have it look stock though if (ok, when) I get power locks added :D The price isnt as bad as I had thought either!

I can't wait for a reason to use that awesome little feature! I am positive the air mattress will be inflated using it for sure. I am a sucker for coffee made over the morning fire though :P but I know I can find something elseI can plug in

Yes this does actually. Thank you! I think I will have someone else do this one. I am sure this would be a disaster if I tried to do it by myself
