Cool signit dude.To add it, go to my profile, my signature, then click the "image" blue button right below the text box. two things will show up, the word IMG between brackets, an then the word /IMG between two more brackets. like this:[ IMG ][ /IMG ] (only without the spaces).Between those two middle brackets, insert the URL of the graphic you want to use...but it has to be hosted somewhere, only problem...

Ah... hosting it, that's the problem. Looks like you are just going to have to suffer and CLICK ON IT! haha! So which do you think is better... pics or text?

Actually, since you attached it to the above post, it's now being hosted on GVC...so use this URL to add it to your signit:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerofile/1496/vibelogo.jpgTo answer your question, though, I like the graphic signature, when done right. If it looks good, it makes a nice divider between posts...If it's poorly done though (like my last one), it becomes an eyesore.

I'm quite a big fan of my signature I generally like good-taste signatures as well, images are always great :DText works too, but it is kinda bland

Hey, now it actually works... you can see both the pic and the text version. Thanx ragingfish! (I can always count on someone here to help me out) "Eyesore" or "Nice Divider"?

Actually, some people on here can do it with text and it still looks pretty smooth...Can't think of a member offhand but I know I've seen it...

Very nice divider. But pick one and stick with it -- don't keep the text too. That's just overkill. As geo said, what font? I like!

the font is called BRADY BUNCH. I thought it went well with the "cutout" filter that I used on the pic of my Vibe in the background... trying not to make it too busy looking, but still able to tell it's a Vibe.

Looks good Toasted7! I am going to do an image like that after I install my springs and repaint my grilles. I won't have any apperance mods other than wheels to do after that. And the wheels are going to be a while.

I've often got a slow connection, so I have my genvibe preferences set up to display signatures, but not images. You're signature shows up for me as a link.

I'm on dial-up and it is sloooooowwww... but I have my settings so that it shows everything. On this site it is really worth it - at least I think so.

I believe the graphic looks good. I suggest that people try to make them smaller. When everyone has a graphic and are responding to posts, it makes it time consuming to scroll through the posts, seeing the same graphics.

I actually use the sig graphics to my advantage for scrolling, I just look for mine and then what's under it is all the new stuff that I need to read Of course, there is an option for sig images being off, isn't there?

I'm with Robert, the pics in the sigs make the threads really long. On the other hand, they do fill up the space nicely when your post is really short, otherwise you get a huge block with one sentance and it looks barren. Maybe that's why I ramble too much...to fill the space in the smallest block it will give me.

I used photoshop, but I'm not sure about everyone else. I took a pic of my Vibe, cropped it down and applied a few filters to it then put the text in a few layers and flattened the image down and presto... you have my signiture. This one was really just to mess around with, but I kinda like it, I think it's a keeper... for now. Photoshop... GOOD! Microsoft Paint...BAD!

I keep the signatures turned off... Sometimes it can take a couple minutes for a thread to load....Dial-up, yeah!!!!

I have my settings so it doesn't automatically include my sig. I'll include it if it's my 1st post to a thread (if I remember), but if I post an additional time to that thread, I won't include it. Less "clutter" I think. One thing I noticed is the members with the animated graphics (which are cool) make my scrolling "stutter" in I.E. I like them, but I'd rather not see them 20 times in one thread.

What are you talking about... Dial-up RAWKS! maybe hitting myself in the head three times with the hammer will make my internet connection faster?!?

Step by step?Took background image of Vibe.Copy/pasted different rectangles of it in different layers to give it that weaved look, then used layer effects for the shadows, and glows.Another layer with everything black + layer opacity to make a grey background over the picture of the Vibe with the weave. One layer for all the text in white with a cool font.Another layer for "Geo" and seperate layers for PONTIAC VIBE and Base Automatic used layer effects for bevels and shadows, etc.I then put another small layer with a black rectangle box to serve as a highlight for "Geo" This way when I need to change the image I can move everything around easily, and just redo the "weave" pattern till I find a way to make it all automatic and linked to the background image itself. I didn't use any filters or anything for this signature either, but wait till I "get" Xenoflex and Eyecandy, then I can start doing the cool stuff again lol.

Damn signatures are nice from a newbie's perspective but they are annoying when you are just trying to read the forums. I especially feel sorry for those people who do not have cable access. Those signatures are probably turning away possible members.

Or then there are those of us WITH cable that feels like we're using 56K. Honestly I don't mind the signatures. (I have one too, I just don't use it all the time) I think in some way they add to the posts a bit. It gives some visual interest. The one thing I would mention is watching the file size. Some of them are approaching 70K and that's even hard on my cable modem.

I run a cable modem and I have no problems with the Pics... Pages load almost instantly everytime...I like the pics.. Some of them are realy well done... Mine is a work in progress as I learn more about Adobe and find inspiration from others.

Right, well that's most cable modems. For some reason my area doesn't range well and yet they still sell the service. My speed is faster than dial, but just barely.I really like the pictures too and would hate to see them go, but if the upward trend in file size were to continue, they might need to be restricted out of respect for those who can't/don't have high-speed connections.
