Toyota Recall Vibe included?

In case you may not have heard, Toyota is recalling over 7 million cars, 2.5 million in the US, for a power window issue. The Matrix and Corolla are part of the recall which affects cars from 2009 models. Does anyone know if the Vibe is involved as well?

I was wondering the same.

One would think that the same part was used in the Vibe as in the Corolla and Matrix. But hasn't past experience been that the GM recall followed by several weeks?

One would think that GM would be 'on the ball' with this one. Such a simple repair and it will get many people into the GM showroom.

- Say, while you're here at the dealer, why not have a seat in this new Cruze. Or how about this Sonic!

The Sonic seems a mite small, and the Cruze is a sedan.

Remember, though, Vibe was built in a different factory. It could just be an issue with Canadian-built cars. Maybe different suppliers?

Didn't they build a bunch of Corollas at the CA factory too? So I'm thinking the Vibe should be included and that they all have the same supplier.

Corollas were built at NUMMI along with the Vibe.

Toyota reached into their parts bin and used this same switch on practically everything.

While they're at it, they should replace the switch with one that has everything illuminated.

While that may be true, you're still inside the dealer and a good salesman is going to take advantage of that! Toyota says that the repair will take about an hour... which means you probably won't be going anywhere until your car is done. Are you telling me that you're going to sit in the waiting chair and read the 3 year old copy of golf digest? Didn't think so. You'll be wandering around and planting your (removed) in a few seats! You might not be looking for a new car now, but the dealer has just planted a seed in your head.

On certain vehicles, due to improperly applied grease, the driver’s side power window master switch could stick or become inoperative. If attempts are made to lubricate the switch, the switch assembly could overheat and melt. A melting switch may produce smoke and potentially lead to a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect the driver’s power window master switch and apply a specialized grease that inhibits heat build-up, or replace the power window master switch circuit board, as necessary.

It's good to be a first gen! I suppose it's also good to be a luddite with crank windows.

But that is Canada? Seems like 2010 would be included as well.
There is a website where you can put in your VIn and see total production numbers and number with the power package option.
I can't find it now.

Hmmm... we've never had any issues with our power window switches sticking or not working or anything like that, but I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more information on this as I certainly wouldn't want our door panels catching on fire !

It wouldn't be CompNine, would it?

Seems like it's only a matter of time before we start receiving recall notices from GM...
