why the vibe is a great car to turbocharge!

some how the vibe manages to be many different cars.....it fits the whole family....it gets great fuel economy...36mpg..its the camping mobile..w/roof rack..and lots of room in the back.... its the samll p/u when the seats are foldded down...its the driving office w/ ac oulet and folding seat computer desk....and the rolling kitchen w/ the pancake griddle LOL ...it looks real cool....and..it is a blast to drive....almost.....and i mean almost.....a sports car...(it is if you get the gt)...but I did not.....but ...some how I managed to talk myself into putting on the turbocharger....so now....Its a sports car...it really realy zooms..!!!And I know some of you are waiting for the supercharger...but..I could not wait....and am not sorry....'cause the Vibe is a blast to drive with a turbo charger

do you have the base or gt? can you tell $3000 worth of difference?

Faultline,Give us more details! Tell us about the turbo package, what sort of psi, driveability, difficulty tuning, etc?!?!?!? P.S. I would never attempt to turbocharge my 2ZZ, but I think the 1ZZ is a decent motor for mild boost.

I guess it's easy to miss threads if they take place in a topic you don't always go in and check. I've always found it easier to use the "Active Thread" link:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerosearch?cm ... hreadsThis lists all active threads in all topics in reverse date/time order (newest posts on top). This way I sign on and read every thread dated after I signed on last.Hope that helps.

I would never attempt to turbocharge my 2ZZ, but I think the 1ZZ is a decent motor for mild boost.Hey ya Quikag!....The turbo runs 7psi....intercooled......the system boost usaally from 3krpms to redline...the car runs stock...I mean normall by the cars ecu while not under boost....so it Idles all the same as normall....the fuel system delivers extra fuel referenced to manifold pressure...it is done mechanicly... so for each psi of manfold pressure,the corect amount of of fuel is calibrated to match the extra air....if I turn the boost up to let us say 9psi...the coreect amount of fuel is automaticly calibrated...so I dont have to worry about detonation...it runs rich under boost to be safe...no engine lights and no engine management...it is all mechanical...the car feels exactly the same as before...but goes into a fast forward mode under boost!...like warp speed ahead!...captain......the trick is just like trying to stay over 6k in your gt....finding the right gear for rpms.when you want to zoom...but instead...I have to shoot for 3500 to 6500...to stay in boost......soooo it is like....65 mph in 5th gear at 2500rpms ...and the turbo has no influence...it is just like stock...then drop it into 3rd..and your rpms are over 4k and it is warp speed up to 90mph at 6500rpms...go to 4th...and its 4k again and still boosting...to 110mph if you like...but that is rare.......usually i am boosting in 1st and 2 gear ...up to 60 mph...and then 3rd...up to ???I cant afford tickets LOL...

Faultline, you've been running turboed for a while now. A couple of operating cost questions about your turbovibe - Do you need to run premium fuel with the turbo?under normal driving, what kind of gas mileage do you get?
