A couple of days ago my car door stop latching on. I looked at the actual latch and is not stay on the lock position. There is a plastic piece under the latch that if i push the latch all the way back and push on it it remains on the lock position. I cannot find any information on this and 'am tired of having to use a belt to keep my door closed. Any information or dyi steps would be highly appreciated! Thanx

My sis-in -law (with a chevy cruze) just messed with her door and it atarted doing the same thing. My brother pulled the door handle as if he were opening it and messed with something and it worked. Door now closes. So if you're comfy trying just whatever, give it a shot.Pull the door handle out and try to flip the latch or something

Check to make sure that all the BOLTS in the door jam are there and completely screwed in place.

Pull the interior door release and see if the cam able to latch back into position. don't dry to jam the door shut while the paw is not in a proper latch position or else the latch palm/pin will be deform and cause more damage

Check the metal latch that the door locks to and make sure it isn't loose or has moved.

Go figure, for the last 3 months my 2009 AWD's rear driver door won't open from the outside or inside...

The metal latch is all good. The thing that is happening is the latch on the door is not locking when the door is shut. I think it is some sort of spring that is not allowing it to lock. I am now searching to see what that actually part is called and get an estimate on it. Right now driving with a belt holding the door together, and getting wet when it rains. I have looked the part up and I believe it is $200 which is crazy.
