Preparing for the winter. I am considering adding a snow plow to my Pontiac Vibe. Would this work? I found this website promoting a reversible snow plow called SnowSport 180, it has a couple pictures and a video with a Pontiac Vibe plowing some snow. I am trying to do some research before spending 1000 bucks on plow, and I am just curious if anyone have any experience with SnowSport plow? CAN you? Yes.SHOULD you?NoI could go into the why here but there are many reasons on the internet. Basically you have a car WITHOUT a frame. Snow plowing really beats up a vehicle, to the point of distorted a heavy steel frame at times. Any truck used to plow snow is most often "beat". The entire suspension and drive train have been pushed to the operating limit greatly reducing the life of each component.You've got a light tin box designed for high MPG's, there is no inherent strength in the unibody for plowing. They barely have the strength to pull a light trailer!Really think this one through.The ONLY way I'd say "yes" is if you live in an area that gets an inch or so and you basically want to "sweep" off the driveway. Even then, you'd be tempted to move the heavier stuff should it fall and you really shouldn't.Dave

REALLY bad idea. It's not such a great idea on a vehicle that has a frame let alone one with a uni-body.Ever hear the expression, "Don't ever buy a truck or Jeep that has been used to plow snow with." Well, I worked for Jeep for nearly 5 years and can tell you first hand that plowing snow takes it toll on any vehicle.It would be cheaper in the long run to contract someone that has a vehicle w/a plow and hire them to beat the sh*t out of their vehicle.

I'd say drop the thousand dollars on a snowblower instead of a vibe plow

Used lawn tractor and blade and or blower attachment.

you could buy a ****ty pickup with a plow for like 500 ya it will be rusty but it would get the job done if you have a really big driveway. otherwise I would say snowblower, or lawn tractor.

I love my snow thrower. 28" dual stage Craftsman with electric start.

Thanks for some good answers, I got convinced not add a plow to my Vibe. I already own a snowblower, but I was getting tired of walking out in the cold and having the snow blowing everywhere, and was thinking it might be nice to sit inside a warm car. I might use my snow blower another winter or trade it in for an used ATV with snow plow (it wouldn't be as warm as the Pontiac Vibe), but ATV snow plowing, looks a lot more fun than using a snow blower. http://www.buysnowsportplows.c...rtatv
