I recently brought my 2003 Vibe to a dealer. They have replaced two O2 sensors, and now replaced a catalytic converter. Whe I picked it up ther was a loud noise. They checked the oil and early that day it was full but now is 3.8 quarts short of oil and there are no oil stains on the dirveway or garage floor.Has anyone experienced this problem or know of any issues with the oil disappearing? Thanks

Welcome to GenVibe! I see your in FL as well ! Im curious as to why the O2 sensors & cats were changed. Were you getting a check engine light? As far as the loss of oil, does the dipstick show a mix of coolant & oil? How does the inside of the tailpipe look? Does it have a lot of soot on the inside? If you have a loss of oil, but no visible leaks it has to be burning off somewhere.

Ultimately, it could require the shop to tear down the engine. Check the coolant to see what color it is - if its muddied, that could be where your oil is going. You could also be burning it. Are you noticing blue smoke? There are so many ways to lose or burn oil it's difficult to diagnose.

I'd definitely be looking into the likelyhood of it burning oil. If your cat and o2 had to be changed, there's a reason. If you're burning through that much oil, that's probably your reason.Best of luck and be sure to keep us posted!

this may be a bit blunt and obnoxious but-- have been doing oil changes regularly?
