Anyone ever experienced this?It started happening yesterday when my car died at a light. Thankfully I got it started and got it home. Thought it might be the battery so I replaced it at AutoZone. Also had the code read and they said it was something about an ignition/electronic control module. They didn't have the part. But it ran ok so I drove it to work without incident today but when I went out to start it, it started and then promptly died and refused to stay started. Had to have it towed to a repair shop. And after they diagnosed the problem, the said that the ECM was fried! Gonna cost around $850.00 to get it fixed and wont be ready till next Wednesday...hopefully.Does that sound like a fair price or am I getting ripped? Thanks in advanace for any comments or opinions!

Yeah, that sounds about right. Sadly the ECM's work very well when they work, when they don't, call the tow truck. The down side to this is you bought a new battery!Dave

The NY AG is investigating Intel for antitrust pricing issues. Intel sells a sophisticated quad-core chipset for perhaps $150. Maybe NY ought to investigate why an ECM for a car should cost $850.

Shouldn't it be covered under the emissions warranty? 7 or 8 yr/80,000 mile deal?
