Does anyone know the general mileage a timing belt should be changed? I am over 100,000 miles with my original belt and I figure I am overdue for this change. I understand it is better to change it before it breaks on you--Mister Obvious!!!

The Vibe has a timing chain.

No maintenance ever needed! It takes a lot of miles to screw up the chain.

Maybe he's referring to the serpentine belt? I didn't see anything in the owner's manual about when that should be changed.-JT

Yeah, they don't usually specify a service interval for drive belts... basically you just have to watch them and get them replaced when they become worn. If it is 100k on the original serpentine belt, do get that replaced...

Yes I was referring to the timing belt/chain--I know some autos do have chains which last much longer--so I am glad the Vibes have chains not belts. However since I am over 100,000 on my original belts, I will have them checked soon. Thanks!
