Sub Woofer Connector Configuration (The 7th speaker)

I bought a sub woofer that is out of an 06 Vibe on eBay. It has a 4 pin connector.....see photo. Does anyone know the hookup configuration? The label on the sub says 2+2 ohms 50+50 watts. Does this unit have it's own amp built into it? In that case two of the leads would be for power, and the other two leads would be for line lever audio. If there is no amp, then it would just hookup to the LR and RR speaker leads. I have an 04 Vibe with the 6 speaker system and would like to add the sub to give me the 7 speaker configuration.Thank you for any help with this.........

Looks like you've got a Dual Voice Coil sub there. Crutchfield has a white paper, here's all you'll need.
http://www.crutchfield.com/lea....htmlYou'll need a small amplifier, that will bridge into 4 ohms and not put out more than 100 watts. That likely won't become a huge hitting system, but be just enough to round out the lower frequencies.

the M&T models with the sub have an amp under the passenger seat to power the system. You would have to get that amp, rewire all your speakers to run off that amp, and then add the sub in.Not bloody likely!

He already has the amp. My aunt has an 04 Vibe with six speakers and the amp, but no sub. I believe the amp for the sub is built into the sub enclosure. At least that's the way mine looks. I have no clue how to wire it in though. I'll try to trace the sub wires on mine this weekend and see if I can offer some help.

he says he has the 6 speaker system. does that mean the M&T amp? i can't remember. i was under the impression you could get 6 speakers with or without the amp, but that could be the G6's that are like that -- i'm getting my pontiacs all confuddled!!!that being said, i'm still pretty sure the amp was resdesigned on 06+ to accomodate the sub.

nygiantzz1,Thanks for the reply. That would be great if you could check your wiring. I do have the amp under the passenger seat. I am going to take apart the sub enclosure to see if there is an amp built into it.Thanks again to all responders!

If you have 6 speakers, you have the amp with the Vibe. I am trying to do the same thing. I have the 04, and want to add a sub. The amp for the 04 w/out the sub is the same amp as the 05 with the sub. So as long as you have the 6 speakers, IN THEORY you should be able to wire the sub into the amp, and it should work. However I know how sometimes things don't work liek they should

I traced the wires from the sub, they travel down along the fender well into the frame. They exit the frame a little ahead of the B pillar and go under the passenger seat to the amp. I have no idea what is what without a schematic because there are multiples of the same wire colors at the harness. I was tempted to cut the sheathing over the wires, but the windshield washer line for the rear hatch runs in the same channel, I didn't want to cut it. Since the 04's didn't have the sub, I'd bet you need an amp from an 05-07 to make the sub work.
