I just got these on today and WOW they are great. The little Vibe is really coming together nicely. I was supposed to leave it stock. Next will be the rear sway bar.

I had my mechanic do it for $45. He will be putting a new tensioner pulley and belt on for no charge on Monday.

Does the original belt still work? What improvements did you notice? Thanks

Yes it still works, because the alternator pulley is bigger than stock. As fare as what it does way better throttle response. This is only for the 1zz motor.

Good to hear it freed the motor up a bit. Do you have an Auto or 5 speed? Have you had any issues or heard of any issues with battery charging or AC operation? I suspect if the pulley ratios have that big an impact without any downside, that Toyota would be using them stock as these should increase fuel economy as well. I run nearly 100% highway so I've considered these since charging should not be an issue with my driving and the extra power is always a plus.

Guys just make sure you change out the front main seal when you do the pulleys. Because you may get a slit oil leek if you don't. Ask me how I know

Leave it stock? Within the first month of having mine, I had the CAI and catback on. LOL They beg to be modded.

Does this apply to the VVTL-i too?

This only applies to the basic Vibe. This is only for the 1zz application.

I looked under celica pulleys on eBay. They are $95.00 plus 15 for shipping. i am running the stock size belt because the alternator pulley is bigger. They work great, but I would change the seal when you do the pulleys.

What's up with the seal? Does it get damaged during the removal of the stock pulley and need replacing?

The seal is so it will not leek. The old seal will be worn so a new one will be a nice tight fit. I had a little leek I had the seal replaced and no more leek. As fare as the belt I am really not shore.
